Hi again Saturday I made an "impulse buy"...747SCA with Shuttle for 19.95... This kit is the 1977 Space Shuttle mold with, I am sure, a 1960s 747-100 mold. The molds have had it, the 747 is completely covered in flesh! :-( I started on one engine only to find out that it needs it's weight again in putty to get the parts togther. BUT...I am not giving up. There are replacement engines out there, I fould Welsh Models and Bra Z. Models. Any other that can be recommened and which ones are the best for an early Jumbo? Not sure if I will go for an SCA or maybe get decals for one of the

Thanks a lot gentlemen...:-) I will look around to see what is offered. Since both models are soo similar I think the only question is if I like the kit decals and then the price. Zvezda has boring decals, Revell though has a rather nice "special" version on offer from the soccer WM 2014...and even though I am not into soccer at all it looks cool! thanks Uwe PS: Also toying with the idea of kit bashing a -8 with the -400 just because of the super cool "Ed Force One" version! :-)

Hello all Last week I bought a box of old, partly build models of E-Bay...super cheap. I was mainly aiming at the 1/72 scale Revell Space Shuttle that was part of the deal. There was also a Revell 747-400 in the box that was missing parts and is beyond economical repair. But handling it made me want to build one going fwd. Now I have looked at various offers of 747 in general and came across the newer 747-8 models from Revell and Zvezda . I have also read hints that the Zvezda kit has small issues but I have so far not found an in debth review about what those are. A link to such a

Hello all Where are the deacl kings? Hotdog, do you read? Check this out if you do not already know it. I like the idea and the end result! https://www.authentic-airliner-decals.de/epages/17895661.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/17895661/Products/D144-BO-11 Can this be coppied into your shuttle sheet? For 1/200 1nd 1/144 this would be great! cheers Uwe

space shuttle stack accurate flight deck question

Sounds good...I have time. I am in no hurry to start the big shuttle, I still have a 1/144 stack and a 1/100 shuttle to do...Take your time and deliver a 100% product! ;-) thanks Uwe -
Revell 1/144 Shuttle/Stack build/STS-133 - Finished!!!
anj4de replied to crowe-t's topic in Real Space Modeling
Hello Michael I know this threat is old... I just spotted your finished Discovery in the gallery section and I am blown away! I am about to start painting my Revell stack. Is there amy chance that you could restore the pictures of this threat? Or is there a place they can be looked at? I am now using this place for my picture sharing http://postimages.org/ It is (so far) free and easy to use. I also never use those pages to store the originals, I still have all my pics on a HD here at home..."the cloud" is not trust worthy IMHO. thanks Uwe -
The postman came this morning...and brought that one! :-) The decals even though basic look still ok. I am sure my list of AM parts will end up at factor 10 of the price I paid for the kit ;-) Anyway...not a short term project. cheers Uwe

Me too...would probably motivate me to start that Dragon 1/72 set sold as Apollo 10 but should be good for 11 as well...

space shuttle stack accurate flight deck question

Hello Is there an approximate release date known already? Beany cap and cockpit, please! cheers Uwe -
Hello Bill Your 3D stuff looks really great! I have the docking adapter on my list already. On the engines...they are phenomenal...only the price is a bit of a hold back right now. Have you looked in maybe stacking three engines into each other with liitle support sticks between them? Like ice cones at the "Gelateria". If SW can print that way it might bring the set price down a lot since the overall volume for three engines goes down...and your sales numbers would for sure rise ;-) thanks Uwe

Hello... Those tiles look really good...as much as I can see so far. Unfortunately this threat has also been heavily affected by the PB issue! :-( Hotdog, have you explored the possibility of 3D decals already? In the tank and aircraft community there are some sheets around with rivets that stick out, maybe tiles could be done that ways as well? Also some AM companies, Eduard for example, have products in fexible resin by now...seat belts for example. Last but not least, when the molds for the Monogram kit were made, were th eoutside measurements taken from Enterprise an

...ok...so the test with the pictures worked! :-) Next I gave the parts a two day bath in "Drano" which took care of all the paint and old decals. After that was done I started to re-assemble the base structure. I found out that the kit was missing one engine, so I ordered sprue F and in addition also the new sprue H and the decals from a German dealer who stocks Tamiya spares. Each sprue was 7EUR and the decals I think were 15EUR together. Delivery time...2 days! The glas part has a scratch that I did not get out. T

Hello all While waiting for decals and parts for the 144 stack I started to work on the Tamiya Shuttle wreck I bought 2nd hand for just 8EUR. The model practically fell apart since the previous builder (thank god) had pre-painted all the parts and was using a crappy glue and sparsely. 30 min and all parts were in the box.

...yes, the Shapeway stuff is expensive. Part of the expense though is the design itself. I am sure the 3 engines could be designed stuck inside each other with small pins to hold them apart like ice cream cubes...and that would bring the price for a set of three right down. I have the Real Space 1/144 engines and they are very nice, no bubbles at all. In 1/32 scale there is also a set from Fischer Models that looks good...to my novice eye. I am also concidering the AMP windows...I know Hotdog had issues with them being too big at first but that was a couple of years ago and apperantly t

Thanks Hotdog... About the engines...what is wrong about those, please? https://www.google.de/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fshop.strato.de%2FWebRoot%2FStore7%2FShops%2F243845%2F56D0%2F103A%2F0F6D%2F6BCC%2FA6F4%2FC0A8%2F2AB9%2F1BF1%2FSSME72.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fshop.strato.de%2Fepages%2F243845.sf%2Fde_DE%2F%3FObjectPath%3D%2FShops%2F243845%2FProducts%2F%22M%2B482%22&docid=ju64CO8Wge1ZHM&tbnid=4FAlm3xB4FpY0M%3A&vet=10ahUKEwiUso-H0NDZAhXOyaQKHQvVC4UQMwheKBcwFw..i&w=750&h=525&itg=1&client=firefox-b&bih=910&biw=1892&q=real spa

Hi Pete I also just found this doc on the web...which explaines a lot. https://www.google.de/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwid2tfGidDZAhWPDuwKHdd-BxIQFggrMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ninfinger.org%2Fmodels%2Fvault2006%2F172%20shuttle%20kit%20comparison%20excerpt.doc&usg=AOvVaw2i1RYhygaZXbn-AwVd0b2f So Monogram it is with AM parts like engines and the windows... cheers Uwe

Hello all I have been reading about the two large shuttles but have not found a pro/con on each of them nor an in depth review on which one is the more accurat representation. I did read the Monogram one has an issue with the wing profile (?) but no details. is there a good review around, one of those rivet counter/hait splitter ones? I have a Mongram one coming and was wondering if shopping for a 2nd hand Revell or ordering spares from Revell (easy in Germany) should be looked at. thanks a lot Uwe

Hi all My access problem is sloved...no clue why I could not log on this morning. Anyway...with my Hotdog decal sets being in production my tension rises...and to feed the need in me I am looking around for pics...like that one Expand to full resolution and enjoy... cheers Uwe

Hi Pete I was not looking at using the Warbird tiles on the 1/100 shuttle...I just spotted them in 1/72 and there at least the tile size looks ok... For the big shuttle and in general I will use what ever is best. Unfortunately those tile decal sets vary in availability. For the Tamiya shuttle I am going to use set of Hot Dog. cheers Uwe

Due to the lack of pictures...what is the best way to represent the radiators on the inside of the cargo bay doors? In the kit there are two parts on each door in chrome plated plastic. On photos I see 4 panels per door. How did you guys do that? I am thinking Evergreen pre-engraved poly sheet covered with Alcald 2 chrome. thanks Uwe
-
Thanks Pete...! I am just checking around and came across the Warbird decals in 1/72. In that scale, at least on the pictures, it looks like the tiles have about the right size...much better then on their 144 set which has huge tiles that look ugly. What do the experts say? thanks Uwe

Hello all Unplanned things happen often they say...well that happend yesterday. I bought a Monogram 72scale shuttle orbitor kit, unstarted, complete, for 24EUR! That's the 4th shuttle in two weeks...with only the new Hasegawa/Huble and the 144 Dragon one being planned. The Tamiya one came from a scrap yard so to say and now that! :-) I have no plan to build it anytime soon, have other stuff on the bench still, but I am collecting infos now. AM stuff, what is there, what should be bought, etc...so any input is more then welcome. cheers Uwe
