  1. I've been using Vallejo almost exclusivley for the past two years because that what my closest hobby shop carries. The Model Air is best thinned with distilled water and cleaned up with Vallejo's own brand of airbrush cleaner, it really does make a differnece. The regular Vallejo brushes wonderfully expecially when you use the Vallejo thinner. It can be thinned down with water and a couple of drops of Windex to help break the surface tension if you want to spary it. DO NOT use the thinner meant for the brushable paint in your airbrush as it has a tendancy to clog and splatter the paint whe
  2. Bugger. Well wet sand off the flat coat as advised with 1500. Hopefully you've used Future as a gloss as it can witth stand a lot of abuse and keep the decals in one piece. Or break out the airbrush and carefully repaint the affected ares. The big thing is not to freak out just about anything can be fixed if you keep your head about you. I used to have this problem with Testors Dullcoate many years ago. The can just was not shaken enough. Try soaking the can in hot water and then giving it a good shake for at least 5 min. I've totally gotten away from rattle cans and just use Polly Scale
  3. For Tamiya paint, use ONLY Tamiya thinner, in my expereince anything else just does not work as well. Plain tap water works just fine for Vallejo, and Gunze. For clean up Windex works great.
  4. E-mail from Ambroid today. Proweld is back in production and they are restocking as fast as they can!
  5. What the hell happened?? NO one has any stock. Down to one bottle of the six I had stashed away and went to restock. Every one of my LHS was sold out with no idea when they would see more. Anyone have any ideas as to whats going on with Ambroid?
  6. Pay the price and stick with the Tamiya thinner for painting. Windex works great for cleaning up as does water with a little detergent added. I found Iso speeds up drying a great deal and in a dry climate you can get a very rough pebbly surface almost like sandpaper from the paint drying before it has settled on the surface. Thats never happened with the Tamiya thinner. You can also use laquer thinner to soak the tips for a few hours, it scours out any type of paint and never attacked the plastic used in the nozzles.
  7. Thanks guys, off to search for one!
  8. I want to build a EuroFighter in 1/48th. Which is the better kit, the Revell or Italeri?
  9. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, use Tamiya thinner for best results. Anywhere from 70 - 30 (paint-thinner) to 50-50. Recipie for Aztec: Use the Tan, White or Black nozzle, I sprayed with a much higher pressure with the Aztec than normal, sometimes aroung 22lbs. Start with a 70-30 mix, mixed in film cannister, take 10 lb sledge, smash the hell out of Aztec and proceed to pore paint mixture in Iawta, Bader or Pache airbrush! And proceed to paint. My third A470 just got this treatment and I am very happy with the new Iawata. Paid for the first Aztec several years ago, with occasional use they are fine
  10. Looking for 1/48 markings for the three tone grey camo on F-18's from the "Blue Diamonds". USS Carl Vinson. No luck so far.
  11. Just finnished Hobby Boss' new A-10. What a great kit to build!! Shake the box, add some glue and paint and out falls a very nice model. It was much more fun that the last two Hasegawa kits I've done. I'm sure a resin cockpit would liven things up, but the cost of the resin will buy another kit and it really dosen't need it. Highly recommened
  12. Hey guys what colour should I use for interior of a Ki84 Frank? Am building 1/32 Hasegawa and the colours listed are Gunze Mr. Color 127 and 126. These enamel paints are not available and I can find no colour charts for "Nakajima or Mitsubishi cockpit" colour.
  13. My expereince with the Aztek is very similar. The trigger slowly refused to stay closed, then one day "snap" , no more A470. It simply quit. Sent it back to Testors and 5 weeks later a brand new A470.
  14. Mine is now shooting air from the body again and the trigger has gone completely floppy after a two week break from building. I've been trying to contact Testors for any shipping intructions but they have not answered my inquiers. Anybody have any idea as to what Testors requires to send this back? Aztec A470 purchased in 2000.
