  1. The seat is done! After doing two I should'a been building another Strike Eagle. The details in the pit tub are coming along well too. More to come. Randy
  2. Behind the pit, believe it or not those colors are close to correct (who can be exact, except for CRASA) Now on to the rest of the wiring. Randy
  3. Here's the latest. Getting the tail mounted up and filling in some very minor gaps, the challenge in this was preserving the rivets and panel lines. I scribed them a bit a couple of times because I didn't want them to deep and mismatching the rest of the aircraft. Scribe and sand, scribe and sand. Turned out well. Now for the vents on the belly, this took some time and removal of microns of plastic at a time to get the proper fit. This is the second seat I've painted for the aircraft. Not using a experimental wash this time just the good ole' standard. And, yes my fingers are covered
  4. There are only a few modelers that can built with the edge that puts their builds over the top and your one of them, GREAT WORK! Excellent finish, great PE details, and just the right mount of pre-shade. Randy
  5. Outstanding build! Did you rescribe the entire aircraft? Are the nozzle mounting rings BareMetal Foil or scratchbuilt? I've built this one and guys this was alot of work. Randy
  6. This is the you just got a SAM up the pipe every light on in the pit mode. The only other time you would see it is firing the ole'girl up and running systems test. In this case it's artist discretion. Randy
  7. Well, I figured you guys might like the motivation. And, if he has any build questions, like how do you get that windscreen to fit right, I have the answers. And, I do resemble that remark "Smart arse!" Randy
  8. An olde but a goodie! This old kit actually turned out to be a pretty nice build after thew mods were made. And no Dave, that missle is not painted white. Randy
  9. All of those nice pics of the seat are now worthless because I used a bargin acrylic paint to make my wash which did not come off when I tried to remove it. So, now I get to strip the seat and do another paint job. Things like this happen and MAKE ME SO HAPPY ;) !!! Randy
  10. Paint complete on the seat now it's time for a medium grey wash to bring out the details. Randy
  11. All of it is hand painted with a 15/0 brush with a few extra brissles cut away. Paint straight out of the bottle and a steady hand. OH YEAH, a set of 4X jewelers goggles. Randy
  12. I can't believe you painted over all my hard work. Those seams were to scale, and you filled them up!?! Glad some parts will go to good use and become part of Jolly history. It's a good thing CRASA his parts to you because he thought the LANTIRN pod was a guided munition. : ) Randy
  13. This one is for Brian P. When you get ready to make major mods just do it. Dremel tool with a sanding disk burns through the plastic in the first cut then just break the piece away. A very rough cut you can see there a ton of plastic removed from the aft end of this bird. Then I go back in with the same disk and remove additional material. Next will be the Exacto and heavy sanding sticks. Take the time when fitting and remove very small amounts of plastic until you get a perfect fit. It's always easier to do it right the first time. Randy
  14. Got the belts painted and I picked out, at random, buttons in the cockpit and painted them with various other shades of grey to get more depth in the tub. You really can't tell in the pic but by the eye you can see how the trick works. Randy
  15. More cockpit. At this magnification you can see all the defects in the resin but in hand it looks really nice. Randy
  16. Drop of Future on a fine brush. You have to build it up in several layers or it will run all over the place, it's very thin. Randy
  17. It will be the one with the Skulls and Bones on the tail and the stripe on the nose. Actually, it will be a color bird with a fanasty loadout. I've got the sheet but don't the Bu No as it's at home. Randy
  18. Working on the seat and getting ready to cut the edges of the black areas back in with dark gull grey. Headrest complete and I've replaced the rudder peddle slides with sewing pins. Trimmed back in with grey the cockpit tub looks much cleaner. Randy
  19. Got the mylar in and now it's off to the tub and seat. Yes, the bezels are hand painted. I don't do much dry brushing in cockpits because it real easy to look overdone, overworn, and wipes out detail that can be picked out with a 15/0 brush. Randy
  20. Starting to put on some battle damage and weathering. I've used a assortment of greys and thinned black in the airbrush masking wuickly with Post-It notes for an edge. If you look at pics of the "actual" spacecraft there is a ton of damage and overlayed weathering so I'm not sure if all of would look right at scale so I've toned it back a bit. The upped left wing is pretty much done along with the top of the fuselage. This is another that's going to compete in Sci-Fi. Randy
  21. Not bad considering that panel is smaller than your thumbnail. I'm going to add some mylar to the screen faces to bring some depth in the detail. More to come. Randy
  22. I've got way to many projects to finish and I can't help but start another. This one has two sets of Eduard PE, wheel bays set and exterior detail set, along with the Avionix pit, aftermarket decals and some scratch building this one should have it all. PE sets add some really nice detail to alot of areas. When I saw the detail for the exhaust nozzle I set the resin one aside and started this one. It replicates the burn pattern on the inside at a level you just can't get with paint. Pylons have the detail that the kit doesn't include. At 5X's zoom the Avionix dash looks a bit rough but i
  23. The seats are being fitted to the cockpit tubs. Cockpits are a central part of the focus on my builds and this one is going to look great due to the excellent casting from Black Box. Slow build but I plan to have it ready for Virginia this year. Randy
  24. Outstanding build young Padawan. Are you going to the show in Feb.? I need some good competion.  Randy
