  1. Most guns fitted, and trial fit of radio room turret glazing: She's almost home!
  2. That's the picture I saw! I thought it was just to make the 'plane look cool out at dispersal. Either way my model of Shilaylee had to be done. Another plane with white wall tyres was Bud Anderson's P51B Old Crow. Anyway I've corrected the de-icers on my model, and am proceeding with the weapons.
  3. just one progress shot tonight: As you can see I've added the props. I've also painted just about everything else left in the box. I've also toned down the stars with neutral grey.
  4. Here's one that I built for a previous Airfix GB I moded the number to one that I saw at Fairford, and cut down the undercarriage a little.
  5. Not a showstopper , but I lost the bombardeer's seat, and navigator's office during work on the nose. Cut down a spare pilot seat, and hope it hides everything behind it. Finally got around to installing the nosecone. Also installed the undecarriage and exhausts etc.
  6. Did all the previous year's GBs dissapear? I can't see those from 2010, 2009, 2008 etc.
  7. Progress today amounts to: removed de-icer on lower fin: Overall Matt Klear - to see what she looks like:
  8. Ventured into my loft today to retrieve my Airfix Fortresses that I showed you all earlier. I had found that the Bit O' Lace was actually red rather than white http://bates-r-us.org/abitolace/index.html so I fitted the Hasegawa noseart decal to my model: and took more photos whilst the weather was good. I had found a photo of Shilaylee with white wall tyres: and I recoated her in MattKlear: Which should look very similar to the YB-40. And I retook photos of Carolina Moon: Enjoy.
  9. No preshading on this model. Anyway a coat of Klear has reduced all the features that you chaps seem to like. Introducing Fortress 42-5741 UX*H - the holder of many secrets. Which I'll spill if this ship measures up at the end!
  10. And a double extension nose leg - to increase the angle of attack off the catapult.
  11. As Pete says: This is my Fujimi F-4M. And Matchbox model by my son: Nothing like the detail of the Fujimi.
  12. Humbrol 155. Thinned to about 50% (hence the distressed look) applied by airbrush. I'm quite pleased with the look I've achieved - but let's see after several coats of Klear for decals.
  13. Just completed the de-icer boots. Touched up the cowling fronts. and the paint is still drying.
  14. Christened my new (last August) H&S airbrush today. This is going to take a bit of mastering A lot more work to do - but I reckon this is the top of the hill Hoping to accelerate progress now
  15. Tranquility base here - the landing stage is covered in Easter egg foil.
  16. Just to show that I've not been shot down - taken 5 mins ago: I've had the devils own job smoothing the joints on the upper fuselage - but it's done now. Hoping to mask and airbrush next weekend. I've acquired some numeral decals, which will enable me to build this aircraft: 25741 H*UX - note the side codes applied over the worn area of fuselage. Also this aircraft looks like a car that's been outside for a typical British summer!
  17. Hi Ron, MODELDECAL set no 2 has Robin Olds' Operation Bolo MiG killer mount included. I used mine to refurbish this Airfix 1/72 model - but someone else might have that set.
  18. Never knew that and missed it with this one! Must revisit it. Same box as Texgal45 but I went a bit OOT with the red trim.
  19. I've just looked at my model. If nothing else crops up, think about using the plastic from shirt packaging. That creased bit of clear plastic that you find in the collar. Hope this helps, Tim
  20. Back in the game! Fitted the chin turret and engines yesterday - this is the Paragon resin part. Airbrushed the underside grey this morning: Upper surfaces are not ready for OD yet though.
  21. This is the Academy/Minicraft kit: Wingspan 18.25 inches, fuselage length 11 inches - add about 3/8 inches to each end for the guns.
  22. Looking good Waylandcool - best of luck with the painting. Here's my Beast from way back - undercarriage cobbled together for the CBK display at SMW2007.
  23. Happened to me . Spotted an Airfix Dominie underpriced by a few quid and tried to buy it. The barcode equipment came up with a different price, and the item was promptly withdrawn from sale - to be re-labeled. Thought they were about to accuse me of swapping the labels myself <_< . A few years previous the same shop had mis-priced their stock of 1/48 Tornadoes to about 25% of Hannants - so I bought 3, and no one batted an eyelid .
