  1. Mr Bill Caryl passed away due to complications from Alzheimer's. Mr Caryl was an original member of the Veterans Lunch Club at the retirement community where the model display is being built. He was co-pilot on a B-17G named "Cheif Cooke and the Bottle Washers". Cooke was the pilot/aircraft commander. Mr Caryl flew 21 missions successfully before being brought down on his 22nd. He spent 18 months in Stalagluft 1 in Barth, Germany. While there, he taught himself how to play the horn and made several wooden carvings that include a caged ball. The ball was carved inside a spherical cage, i
  2. Actually, as fate would have it, got an email from SB saying it's back in stock. Problem solved. Thanks guys.
  3. How long must a person practice medicine before they're good enough not to need practice anymore?
  4. To all those bands of brothers who gave and sacrificed so much....
  5. Sprue Bros is OOS on the Eduard P-51D paint mask set but they do have a supply of P-51K masks. The only difference I can find between the D and the K is the prop. That being said, shouldn't the mask for K fit the D version?
  6. American made golf balls have 336 dimples whereas English balls have only 330. Don't believe me? Take a breather and go count them.
  7. As far as weathering goes, I don't really like to add it to my models but I enjoy seeing it on others. As for aircraft being dirty or not dirty, the one and only time I ever saw an Tomcat and an Intruder was in the mid 90's and let me tell you, those planes were an absolute mess!!! Dirty, dirty, dirty and one of them, can't recall which one, had duct tape on the forward portion!!!!! So there are some nice clean planes and some nice dirty planes, pick the kind you want your model to be and do it.
  8. What's that behind you? Looks like a Dragon Wagon.
  9. It took you 63 years to finally know it all? What took you so long? I had all the answers by the time I was 42, then they went and changed all the questions! :bandhead2:/> :bandhead2:/> LOL!! Also, the water may have been too warm.
  10. Interesting. That's why I'm enjoying this thread and hope it keeps going. We had hot dogs for dinner and that got me curious so I looked it up. Americans eat 20 billion hot dogs a year, that's an average of 70 dogs per American a year. I'm sure I account for a good 100 per year as long as they are Kogels brand!!!!!!
  11. Wasn't that because the 'targets' the RAF went after were cities as opposed to specific areas or complexes the 8th aimed for?
  12. Right and left are derived from thus: The right hand was the correct hand to use making it right. The left hand was the one 'left over' making it left.
  13. Just had a pair of Chinooks fly over heading West out of Selfridge. I thought with the budget cuts there weren't going to be any more training flights. Sure hope I see them on the way back!
  14. I had no idea there were any flying Privateers!!!!! Very cool!
  15. I have a kit or two you can have to keep busy during your down time, but supplies and after market is up to you. PM me your address.
  16. One of the nicest Vipers I've seen! Great loadout!
  17. Thank goodness for the 'ignore' button!!!!
  18. New picture!!!!! Since my daughter was born I called her 'Porkchop'. Now that I have a grand daughter, she'll be called 'Tater Tot'!!!
  19. Here's her picture. Never understood how a woman can say a baby looks like the Dad or the Mom or the ninth cousin removed when they look so,so....squished! Anyway, her she is: Seems to be a bit excess filler around the head and face area, some 800 grit sanding sticks will take care of that!
