Tomcat Tweeker
Hi ALL! Here's some progress on my entry... Man I realy see now how this kit has a "Love / Hate" Reputation! It's a very needy kit... But when it gets the love it wants.. It looks pretty darn nice... I haven't gone to crazy w/ the weathering in this as I am told by one of the pilots that flew her that she held up pretty well duiring the "90" Cruise... ( Thanks Chorse6 for getting me in contact w/ him!!) Hopefully will get the decaling done today :) Thanks Dave
BadCop
Looks great Dave. You've done a great job, especially considering what a bear this kit can be. This one is overall Light Gull Grey?
Tomcat Tweeker
This one is overall Light Gull Grey? Thanks Heaps BC! Yup overall Lt Gull Grey.. Dave
VFA-103guy
Man, great job on the weathering and paint! I have yet to master the effect weatering has on gull gey paint, but this looks damn good.
Tomcat Tweeker
Man, great job on the weathering and paint!I have yet to master the effect weatering has on gull gey paint, but this looks damn good. Thanks Brian!! I just kinda winged it... Black Pnl line pre shade... Used some of your TSP (Gel pen)weathering tips and just lightened the base coat w/6 or so drops of white in the color cup and shot in between the pnl lines... I still have a bit to do... But I think I'm on the right track :) Dave
cemical
How do you put the wingd in then?
Tomcat Tweeker
How do you put the wingd in then? Hey There C... The pivots of the wings on the HAS kits are groved/notched so U can add them after painting.... Dave Edited May 8, 2007 by Tomcat Tweeker
Tomcat Tweeker
Bit of an update... Have got most of the decals on.. Just a few more and I can seal and weather some more... Note the rivit decals.. U all remember Manuel J Armas's BEAUTIFUL VF-103 build?? I was one of the takers on his file and gave my 1st go at making decals... Except for the fact that I pulled off the r/h decal (Operator error) they worked fine.... Now that it's almost finished.. It will probably take me a month to totally finish... Thanks for looking Dave
Rampage55
Exceptional work Dave, I think the weathered Gull Grey looks spot on. Its funny how 10% of the details take up 80% of the time. Well done. Mark
Tomcat Tweeker
Well... I'm calling this one done!!.. Still waiting on decals from 2 bobs for the missles.. But close enough... Definately not perfect.. But She looks pretty good.. The photo's don't do her justice... One big flaw is that I didn't get the pilots mirror strip installed.. I pitched it after numerous install attempts.. The HAS PE is really tough and is too springy for my taste.. Note to self.. By AM PE sets for future builds... Well Thanks for looking Dave http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/to.../P1010019bb.jpg
