ChernayaAkula
Video to be found HERE. It's pretty small, but of good quality. The author of the blog talks about a "black tulip". Now, my Spanish is a bit rusty, but if I understand it correctly, "black tulip" was the name for the flights carrying the coffins of fallen Soviet soldiers back home. I take it the author isn't too sure about that himself. The Hind and Hip footage is most interesting as well.
Zmey Smirnoff
You are correct, Moritz. "Cherniy Tulpan" was indeed code name for cargo plane transporting fallen soldier back home. As far as the as the video... I think its not a documentary, but rather scenes from the movie. The camera work is way too stable and the composition of the shots and scenery seems professional. Thanks for sharing though - havent seen that footage before. Z. Raymond
ah! this is from a soviet movie on afthanistan "Afghan Breakdown" (1991) - a great movie, and probably the closest movie made replicating Afghanistan IMO, though the movie itself is a bit wanting lol Edited October 28, 2007 by Raymond
