HH_Lionking
Hi guys I’m in a process of my Tam 109E3 and I have a question… Does all the 109E-3/4/7 had that split line on the top fuselage and on the bottom as well? or should i sand away that seam line? thx for helping Leon
The Mikester
The seam should be on the top and bottom. From aft of the cockpit the fuselage was constructed of concentric halves riveted together.
moeggo
What Mike said! From memory F onwards don't have the seam...
Hal Marshman Sr
Matter of fact, nearly all Messerschmitt products featured this type of fuselage construction, Me-323 excluded. Hal Marshman Sr
Chuck1945
What Mike said! From memory F onwards don't have the seam... All 109s had the seams, top and bottom.
HH_Lionking
THX for the Info... tried to find a good photo of the upper/bottom fuselage seam just to understand the depth & size of that seam ....with no luck. can anyone assist with that? THX! Leon
Jennings
All 109s had the seams, top and bottom. Man, I hope Messerschmitt ever enters one in an IPMS contest. They'd get dinged for sure :) J
Hal Marshman Sr
In actuality, It's not a seam as such, but a small overlap. Minutely to the left on top, and the right on bottom. It's best represented with a seam, but in 32nd and definitely in 24th, I'd really try to show it a s the overlap. Hal Sr
GGoheen
As Hal Sr. said above, it seems to be a common misconception to sand away the seam when, in actuality, there is no need to do so on any of your 109's. Likewise, all too common is to putty and fill the seam of the cowling assembly aft the cockpit when this too was very much visible on all 109's. Regards, Greg
