hawkeye2an
My local club's contest this month is "What If...". So I thought, what if the USAAC accepted the Tigercat and changed to 2 Merlins? http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/h...5/P-65done3.jpg http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/h...5/P-65done2.jpg http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/h...5/P-65done4.jpg http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/h...5/P-65done5.jpg

Slartibartfast
Interesting idea! I think I would have grafted 6-hole exhausts on it, though. I can't recall ANY USAAF inlines using merged pipes except the P-38.

mungo1974
Interesting concept...but you should have kept the radials. All you've done is taken one of the most beautiful aircraft designs ever, and beaten it with the ugly stick!!

GreyGhost
I like it, cool concept pulled off very nicely ... The Tigercat is one of my favorite prop fighters and I've never thought of the Army Air Corps use before ... Twin Merlins always sound sweet too ... Gregg
TaiidanTomcat
I like it! And not being as familiar with the Tigercat design... I wouldn't know it was a What If had you not told me! Great job!

martin_sam_2000
Very interesting looking design, and it downs look VERY plausible!! one small point..if I may make it...The Merlins would have needed radiators and I don't see any there. They may be under the wings..but I can't see them from the anles you have provided. but being a whatif...it is all up to your imagination
