Andrew Doppel
Neo, It's starting to take real shape now but I have to ask is your tan a little to yellow? Here's two of my RAAF F4Es for comparison. I used Model Master FS30219 for the tan on both of these. http://aussiemodeller.com.au/pages/Gallery/Aircraft/Doppel_F4E-2.html http://aussiemodeller.com.au/pages/Gallery/Aircraft/Doppel_F-4E.html Regards Andrew
Neo
Im pretty sure its only camera issues as i use the Humbrol 118 that is the recommended US Tan FS:30219 Thanks for the input Cheers Neo
blunce
I can't believe you brush painted that! Sure I was skeptical with your first few pics, but like Hammy said, that tends to happen until joila, the final stages. Look REAL good Neo! I'm quite impressed. That said, I tend to airbrush ANYTHING I can except maybe tiny parts like control sticks. I just can't seem to ever get as good a finish as I can with an AB, so my hat's off to you sir! Neo
Thanks Brian this really gets my motivation up well this one might be my last hand painted model!! Compressor is in the mail that will complete my AB setup. I just hope my seal arent all dried up on my Badger Vega200thats been sitting there for couple of years. Also sorry i have been really lazy these past week and have not taken any pics of the progress. i will try to update sunday. Cheers Neo

Neo
OK here is a pic update. Last night i gave the second coat of paint on the underside. I will wet sand it tomorrow with some micromesh to make it nice and smooth. I also decided on the load-out Exterior pylons: 2 drop tanks Interior pylons: 4 AIM-4D Center pylon : SUU-23A gun pod And 4 AIM-7 Sparrows One thing im still searching in the color of the AIM-4D rails. From what i gathered they are white but not 100% sure they also might be the same underside gray If anyone has some info on those i would really appreciate it Cheers Neo

Neo
Ok about time i give you guys something to look at Paint is done with a coat a=of future applied. Started on my weapons(fist time using my aribrush for a real project) gotto do a little sanding then the final coat of white ive installed the stabs and started on the decals.Man o man are therse decals CRAP they take for ever to slide of and its the firts time that a perfectly installed decal wrinkles with micro sol I really dont feel like buying new decals so i hope they will come out ok. Also under the "ZD" the future went really milky white!! i hope it will go away on the next coat! Cheers Neo
Brutus
Nice hand painting job there Neo it's coming all nicely on your progress. Honestly, I wouldn't dare as I suck big time when it comes to that.
Bigasshammm
Usually the second coat of Future will take care of that. Poke holes if needed. Looking good. Scared what you'll do with an airbrush now.
Andrew Doppel
What Hammm said should rectify the issue with the decals. Mate, your scary with a paint brush, god help us when you master the air brush! Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing it finished. Regards Andrew
MIG Mikkel
It looks realy good
Neo
Thanks guys really making me  !! BTW After couple of days the white disapered from under the "ZD" they are still a pain to apply but at leaft they look good. I had to drive 1.5hrs to get to my hobby shop and back just to get 1 tin of Humbroll 153 to paint(and match the decals) the 2 antennas on the tail (where the red decals has a hole) More to come soon Cheers Neo

Neo
That's weird Andrew let me know if you see this one Now im trying to keep this build fresh ... :P ok just kidding!! i masked and cling wrap it so i can shoot some red on the antenas and the joint on the top of the tail (i hate those wing/tail tips decals ) 95% of the decals are on also done and the AIM-4D's are ready for decals and clear coat (these are my first part i EVER airbrush came out pretty good) More soon Cheers Neo Edited October 20, 2011 by Neo
blunce
Hey Neo, Prob. a good thing you got an airbrush to do those missiles with. That orange don't look very brush friendly! Loooking good though! Still can't believe you did that with a brush! One thing I noticed, maybe I read wrong ?, but decals are supposed to wrinkle when you apply Micro Sol, then they suck back down tight. In fact, that was the problem I had with my Scorpion, it was the first time I ever had decals not wrinkle up and settle down. The Sol didn't do a damn thing to those wonderful Academy decals!
