Aigore
Well well, really nice iniative :) I'll be starting out with Darth's personal TIE fighter....you just have to wait until Monday since there's this model show I'm going to this weekend but I'll throw in a presentation as soon as I get time :)
Aigore
Right, let´s get this show on the road :D Here is, probably the last, the box from Fine MOlds....I think I liked the old style boxes better, this kind of looks toylike. In the box there was 3 sprues and a clear sprue and masks as well. Well I kind of begun with putting dear ole Darth on a toothpick :P Put together the simple office... Then some black primer to begin with :D There, now the TIE-build is oficially started :D Cheers!
lodni_k
Cool! It even comes with masks! B)
Benner
Looks like another fine kit. I think I'll have to ebay to get myself one of these, being Spruebrothers or Luckymodel doesn't carry this kit it seems. BTW, can you tell me what fuselage colour should I use for my TIE? Sir Fondlebottom
Do watch it with those masks. The ones for the main windows I found are ever so slightly undersize while those for the canopy/hatch are spot on if you cut exactly on the edge. They're also very low tack which had me worried. They worked out fine in the end but you need to make sure all edges stay down during the painting process.
Aigore
Cool! It even comes with masks! B)/> Yup :D Looks like another fine kit. I think I'll have to ebay to get myself one of these, being Spruebrothers or Luckymodel doesn't carry this kit it seems. BTW, can you tell me what fuselage colour should I use for my TIE? There are actually fuselage colors to choose from.... In "New Hope" the TIE´s were light grey....FS 35375 looks good or even a brighter FS36495. Then they turned blue, and this would be Air superiority blue FS35450 And lastly... a an Imperial Guard TIE would be hull red or insignia red...wich is Close to what they would have looked like orginally in the movies Do watch it with those masks. The ones for the main windows I found are ever so slightly undersize while those for the canopy/hatch are spot on if you cut exactly on the edge. They're also very low tack which had me worried. They worked out fine in the end but you need to make sure all edges stay down during the painting process. Yeah they work fine if you´re careful,This is my fourth TIE and I only had issues with my first :)
Aigore
I adore these small Fine Molds kits...they are just lovely to put together! The little office... And the rear bulkhead... Little darth drybrushed and detail painted Put together the rear fuselage... And the radiators went together nicely....wonder if these are the same as in the TIE bomber?..maybe it too was in the pipe before Bandai snatched the rights. The stand all almuniumed up with Alclad. The front, washed and drybrushed. The rear bulkhead finished. And the office... And complete... Cheers!

Aigore
The good...em work continues. Some decals into the ofice for Vader to watch... A nice little nook for Vader... Boing...insertet into the fuselage.. Then a little surprise...a fit issue with a fine molds kit?! Yup it´s true...the front fuselage didn´t fit so I hade to trim the cockpit a bit. With a little convincing the fuselage was closed. The radiators were masked.. Small stuff glued to the fuselage.. Then I dipped the clear parts in future and here we are...masking and priming next :D Cheers!

Aigore
Moving along.... Instead of using the in box masks I made my own, not so much for not trusting the in box ones as it´s faster and easier to slap on a piece of kabuki tape and then trace the frame with a tooth pick and then cut directly with a hooby knife. It´s my prefered way of masking :D Then I glued on the clear parts.... And went on with putting on a preshade, I jumped priming and went directly with Tamiya XF-67 German grey as preshade. Maybe some Air superiority blue on that tomorrow if I´m not to tired from the modelling show :D Cheers!

Then I slushed on my artist oil wash... Wiped it off...drybrushed some light grey and flat coated it. Glued the guns in place... Demasked it.. Glued on the radiators and it´s done :D I´ll set up a photo shoot tomorrow....got me a vark to shoot as well :D Cheers!
