A-12 Avenger 1/48 coming

Recommended Posts

"Real" has a few layers of meaning here.  I'm inferring from the 'security' comment you may not be aware of the sad history of the ill-fated "Flying Dorito" - which never made it past mock-up form before being cancelled, resulting in one of the longest legal sagas in the history of Pentagon procurement:

While there was never a real airframe, the mock-up, some engineering drawings for specific components, and various detailed models and renderings have made it to the public realm, allowing for the possibility of a model of the mock-up or a "what if" based on same.  In fact Collect Aire did a resin kit in 1:48 and both Anigrand and Planet offered the subject in 1:72.

ModelCollect's 1:48 rendition is still poised to be the first injection-molded version in any scale, but their production schedule seems to have slowed over the past few years (doubtless due to global events) since kits like this one and a new 1:72 B-1B were announced, and for the moment they remain vaporware.
