Captain Tyler
First Alabama 100th Fighter Squadron F-35A in paint now. Shouldn't be too long. This one doesn't appear to be a Commander's aircraft. We'll see if that one has a red tail Edited November 18, 2023 by Captain Tyler

Good night, I love that! 301 Squadron is one of my favorite JASDF units. I guess...add that to the list? Haha
Captain Tyler
Completed Alabama F-35 tail. @KursadA I will publish the final list for this sheet in early January, and hopefully a few more 100th FS aircraft will be readily visible.

Paul Boyer
So where is the red?

Which I think means it’s flat insignia red. I know a red is one of the six (I think it’s that anyways) approved colors for the F-35.

Captain Tyler
So, a little update, @KursadA This sheet will be ready for evaluation soon. Belgium is reportedly getting close to getting their first F-35As, and I will also look into that when more information becomes available. The first 3x F-35As are now at the 100th Fighter Squadron in Alabama, but the teasing by the squadron concerning the application of red paint has made me hold off passing the final list to you for the time being. As of the time of posting, the three F-35As were: 18-5414 18-5420 20-5628 As of right now, here is the current list of aircraft for the sheet: F-35A United States Air Force >Air Combat Command -20-5626, 95th FS, 325th FW, 'TY', Tyndall AFB, 2023 "325th FW Unit Markings" -20-5627, 95th FS, 325th FW, 'TY', Tyndall AFB, 2023 "95th FS Unit Markings" -22-5701, 95th FS, 325th FW, 'TY', Tyndall AFB, 2023 ----- >Air Force Materiel Command -20-5578, 461st FLTS, 412th TW, 'ED', Edwards AFB, 2023 ----- >Air National Guard Alabama ANG -18-5414, 100th FS, 187th FW, 'AL', Dannelly Field, 2023 -18-5420 100th FS, 187th FW, 'AL', Dannelly Field, 2023 -20-5628 100th FS, 187th FW, 'AL', Dannelly Field, 2023 Wisconsin ANG -20-5620, 176th FS, 115th FW, 'WI', Truax Field ANGB, 2023 "115th FW Unit Markings" -20-5621, 176th FS, 115th FW, 'WI', Truax Field ANGB, 2023 "115th OG Unit Markings" -22-5687, 176th FS, 115th FW, 'WI', Truax Field ANGB, 2023, "115th FS Unit Markings" -20-5629, 176th FS, 115th FW, 'WI', Truax Field ANGB, 2023 ---------- Royal Danish Air Force -L-007, 2023 -L-008, 2023 ---------- Royal Netherlands Air Force -F-35A F-014 322 Squadron "80th Anniversary", Frisian Flag 2023 ---------- Japan Air Self Defense Force -F-35A 69-8701 301 Squadron 50th Anniversary, Misawa AB, 2023

Captain Tyler
@KursadA Quick question in regards to this potential sheet. What would be considered too many subjects on a given sheet such as this? It is not a full anthology like the F-22, merely an update sheet.
KursadA
For this subject, 10-12 options is about right.

Captain Tyler
Okay, well, this is interesting 5628 has a full red tail at the 100th FS
caudleryan
I got to see them flying over a couple of days ago along with a P-51 and a couple of F-16's. Flew right over my job for a couple of hours. If I'm not mistaken, these are the only F-35's in the country to have fully painted tails?

Those have full painted tails. BF-01 was retired. All other tail art F-35s are just outlines.
caudleryan
My apologies. I completely forgot about those two.
Captain Tyler
@KursadA Is there any additional info youd like for this sheet? I think it's a pretty solid list. I'd probably also add 5420 to that list for Alabama, which has less red than the full red tailed 5628. Total on the list is 11x.
