ElectroSoldier
Was wondering if anybody knew where to get a set of THESE in 48th scale.
Murph
I think you're stuck with scratchbuilding them (and the pylon they mount to on most aircraft) in any scale. Regards, Murph
MoFo
I have a vague recollection of someone announcing plans for resin SDBs in the future (SHULL?), but don't know of any available now.
Vandy 1 vx4
here are some pics for you on this bomb.

raptor22
Hey Vandy, Were those pics from Nellis this past year?
Aggressor Supporter
Those videos of the SDBs are really neat. Seems those little bombs can do an incredible amount of damage. Since those bombs will be a common sight on our aircrafts soon, it would be nice to have them available in all scales.
ElectroSoldier
Yeah they are kool. I was looking at the DoD and MoD equipment sales and promo sites again, looking for archives on the skybolt and found them. There are hundreads of movies, little snippets or weapon releases out there, its just finding them really.
MoFo
If you can do some basic scratchbuilding and resin casting, the shapes would be relatively simple to make. The biggest problem is that you need a lot of 'em, so would have to/want to cast them. But the body would be simple to turn from styrene rod, add the fins from styrene sheet, and build up the wing packs from tube and laminated sheet stock. Could actually be a good introduction to scratchbuilding exercise.
ElectroSoldier
Yeah it looks pretty easy to replicate, but then most weapons are. I prefer to make the fins out of nickel plated steel myself, I find it makes for more realistic fins. I think I will wait on these, they look like they might become a common load on the Liberty Wings birds so somebody will produce them... While im on, can anybody tell me if the single GBU-10 is a common load now. I rememeber them carrying them on the forward and aft stations [4x weapons in total] on the CFTs

Supposedly, that's a pretty uncommon sight tho', usually the Mk.84s ARE mated to a GBU-10 seeker group. I've seen them loaded on the middle pylons before, but I can't recall where and whether they had Mk.84 or BLU-109 warheads. Edited March 27, 2006 by hatchet
ElectroSoldier
Actually, in the photo its a Mk84 warhead [inert] mated to the PAVE WAY III LLGB kit. I said GBU-10 meaning it as a general term for all 2000lb+ class LGBs... It seems the weapons loads have changed since I remember them after their turn in Kosovo in the late 1990s Edited March 27, 2006 by ElectroSoldier

ElectroSoldier
Yeah I see you changed it from Mk82 to Mk84 lol
mrvark
Its a GBU-24/B. The USAF one with the BLU-109 is a GBU-24A/B; The USN BLU-109 variant is the GBU-24B/B. There are others, but these are the ones seen most at the moment.
ElectroSoldier
Is the GBU-39 in use at theater bases like Lakenheath? I cant tell properly from those pictures but that looks like its taken at Nellis
