ShaunBD
With my current build nearing its end, I'm looked for a new project. At Telford a couple a weeks ago, this conversion set caught my eye. It converts the 1/48th Hasegawa Harrier GR7 into the Harrier T-10 two seat trainer. The conversion set is made by an Italian firm, Aliitaliane. Here are the kit, decals and parts I have for the project. Shaun Edited August 9, 2007 by ShaunBD

The_Animal
Shaun, even though I'm not a big fan of trainers, I'm looking forward to seeing this in-progress and how this turns out. Looks like a real nicely molded conversion kit.
Stephen
That should look nice when finished.Keep us updated Stephen
zukor85
woah... any idea is it on sale anywhere??
CraigSargent
Be interested to know what you think of the quality of the castings. I saw the TAV-8B conversion also, but am loath to fork out 35 Euros for a conversion set without knowing what the quality is like (especially after paying US$45 for the C&H stinker). Bill Clark
I have to say, looking at the resin parts in the picture, they look a lot crisper than the Heritage Conversin set that I bought last year!! (And the nose doesn't look warped!!) Looks nice - shame about the host kit!!!
zukor85
wat abt the C&H conversion??? hmmm... the kit.. i find it quite ok i dun find much of fitting problems
ShaunBD
I got the conversion set from a stand at Telford, the kit box has this link to a website but all the text is in Italian. www.misterkit.com I can't see the Harrier set on there, but a friend picked up the TF-104 conversion set from the same source and said that it's excellent. The Castings are very good, the Fuselage Halfs will need a bit of trimming to get a good fit but the rest looks good. The Seats are very nice, the seat belt detail is all molded and looks spot on. Should make a start at the weekend, will let you know how I get on. Shaun. Edited December 1, 2005 by ShaunBD

ShaunBD
I made a start at the weekend on this project. So far I have built the rear Fuslage and cleaned up the resin parts ready for use. The fit of the resin parts will need some ajustment to fit into the forward fuselage section. Generally the resin parts are good with only a few minor bubbles on some parts. ShaunBD
I have chose to cut and fit the Harrier GR7 nose from the Hasegwaw kit. The plastic kit part is a lot better for detail and looks a better shape than the resin nose cone. The ECM "Tusks" are a lot bigger and more definded and there's also a molded hole for the blower duct. Another reason for going for this approach, is that when I build a GR7 to go along side the T-10, they should have the same nose profile!. The glare panel is also a deferent size to the kit part?, I'll sort this out once I've got the nose dry fitted togeather. The Control Joysticks are well molded but are too short, if you look in the bottom right corner, there is one besides the kit part to show the size.
ShaunBD
My kit had badly molded nose gear doors. These had a lot of sinking on the doors itself and the bulges for the wheel did not match up. I cut the resin kit parts away and are replacing them with the plastic kit items. Parked Harriers have these doors open when shut down exposing the nose gear bay, I had thought of maybe building a bay but lack of references stop this approach, and I've gone for the easy way out and are going to leave them closed. At this stage I have also cut away a lot of excess resin at the nose, to help with the fit of the fuselage halfs. Edited December 6, 2005 by ShaunBD
Bill Clark
I'll have to see if I can have some of my friends that are still in Europe, look around for one of these sets for me. Last November, I picked up a the GR.7 at a show in Germany and didnt have any idea on how I'd build it. Maybe this will pan out, as I love the T.10s in their gloss black scheme.Keep us informed on your progress. Jeff Hi Jeff, Think you're a bit confused between the T8 and the T10!! The T8's are basically hard/metal winged Harrier "I" T4's used by the Fleet Air Arm to support the F/A2 Fleet (for the time being anyway!! - These ARE Gloss Black). The T10's support the RAF Harrier II GR7/9 fleet and are in standard RAF camouflage of Dark Sea Grey over Dark Camouflage Grey...that said when the FA/2 retires next year and the Navy gets its hands on the GR9, you never know - the T10 may well get a coat of Gloss Black!! :D As for th econversion kit, I've just ordered one from Misterkit....looking forward to getting my hands on that after attempting to build (unsuccessfully!) a T10 using the Heritage Aviation set! :o
RSV1000R
As for th econversion kit, I've just ordered one from Misterkit....looking forward to getting my hands on that after attempting to build (unsuccessfully!) a T10 using the Heritage Aviation set! :o Hmm, I've also orderred this from Misterkit. I can't wait to see the next bit of progress Shaun. Cheers, Ed
ShaunBD
Progress has been slow this week , have not had that much spare time to spend on the model. Here's is the cockpit tub, I've dry fitted the pieces together, to give you a look at the cockpit area.
ShaunBD
The up front control panel for the HUD was a lacking detail, so I cut it off and glued on the kits control panel to make it look a bit better. Acording to my references (World Air Power Journal no32) RAF Harrier T-10's have identical cockpits front and rear. This kit I think is based on the TAV-8B, the rear cockpit has a deferent lay out compared to the front cockpit panel. Because this is a large molded piece which forms the rear glare panel, I'm going to leave it alone. I've started painting the cockpit today, hopefully I'll have some updated pics for you soon. ShaunBD
To help the butt joint on the tail, I've drilled a hole and glued an old sidewinder rail into it, this is to strenthen the tail fin once glued in place.
