Starscream76
I'm building an Italeri 1/48 Eurocopter Tiger. I recently saw some pics of one that was at the 2006 Birlin Airshow, which had Tiger meet type makings on it. It a Tigers head painted on it and on the nose and towards the tail section had claw scrachts with tiger skin colouring underneth. Does anyone know if decals are available for this helicopter? SebastianP
OK, so can someone tell me why a German Tiger is wearing French insignia? Because that just ain't right... Is that one of the prototypes, or a flight training machine (I think those are stationed in France)? SP
ChernayaAkula
^ I believe it had French markings on one side and German on the other, but I could be wrong. You're right, the training facilities are in France. At Le Luc, on the Cote d'Azur. EDIT: Some pics of the other side, found on AIRSHOW-WORLD.DE. I hope someone will make decals. Starscream76
I'm guessing that no ones has made decals for this chopper. Which is strange as it seems nearly every Tiger Meet aircraft has had decals made for them. I guess there aren't that many kits of the Eurocopter Tiger so maybe the demand isn't that strong. I think it a cool llok chopper though even with French markings on it lol.
Cobrahistorian
why's the TADS on top of the mast?! :D Just kidding, VERY cool shots guys! I do need to get a new one of those in 48th. After getting into retreating blade stall with my last one, I'm thinking that I may want to attempt another. Jon

Starscream76
Southern Sky Models does decals for an Aussie Tiger. If you can get a French HAP Tiger which is close to the Aussie ARH version then use the decals on that. Here a link for the decals http://www.southernskymodels.com.au/decalsSSM.php
Will7813
Oh, Aewsome! Didn't know they were out there. I will definitley get myself a set! Thanks! Will

ChernayaAkula
^ I think the RoG kit is OOP for a coupe of years now.
kutscha
Hi there, you were right with the registrations. It had the german colors and marks on one side, the french colors and marks on the other one. just for the presentation. the pics are quite good to use them as samples to get some from e.g. declaprint.de or some other company which prints decals

helonewb
OK, so can someone tell me why a German Tiger is wearing French insignia? Because that just ain't right... Is that one of the prototypes, or a flight training machine (I think those are stationed in France)?SP This is because this Tiger is one of the prototypes from Eurocopter. I think that most of the proto had German markings on starboard side, and French on port side. This is because France and Germany were the two countries that have initiated the Tiger project. Germans are trying to replace the BO-105, and the French the Gazelle. Of course, since then, the Tiger was sold to other countries including Australia. I like the Australian cammo on the Tiger, and decals for it (at 1/48) are available. I am not aware of decals for the Tiger stripes on these pictures. The French Tigers are soon going to be sent to Afghanistan from what I have heard. I wish Hasegawa would produce a 1/48 Tiger. The Italeri kit is old, yet still better than the Revell one (which sucks). Helonewb

Will I don't know how the kit compares to the Revell / Italeri Tiger, but the Hobbyboss kit includes decals for an Australian Tiger.
kutscha
Excellent!Me neither! The french guys got the cannon but I have no idea why germany didn´t take the gun. just as optional gun pods below the pylons.

The french guys got the cannon but I have no idea why germany didn´t take the gun. just as optional gun pods below the pylons. Ah, but you know why. Because of our lame-@$$ politicians. The French were to get more of the dedicated anti-tank variant (HAC), which they dropped in favour of the HAD. It seems French politicians can be flexible, so why can't ours? :( No we're stuck with a helicopter whose primary mission was dead long before the Helicopter even reached the troops. SebastianP
I thought I read somewhere that there's been some research done regarding adding a gun to the UHT, though I couldn't tell you where since it was a while ago. I may also be confusing the UHT with the Mangusta, which *did* get a gun added well after service entry, since it turned out ATGM's were a little bit too powerful (and rockets too inexact) for urban ops. (It's actually rather interesting to compare the Mangusta post-upgrades with the Comanche - same gun and same engines, for example) SP
