Tyronesdaddy
Here is the Hobby Boss MiG-17F done in North Vietnamese markings. It seems to have an accurate outline and nice surface detail but the cockpit detail is rather sparse; the instrument panel is like the one in their FJ-4 kit--very crude with no visable detail. The windscreen is nice and clear but the canopy appears to be a direct copy of the one in the Smer/Airfix kit with those horribly overdone heating elements. The kit includes an engine (totally unneccessary and unwanted IMHO) which means the fuselage is spit into 4 parts resulting in some bad fit problems because the outline of the forward fuselage does not match that of the rear. There were also fit problems at the wing roots. The paints are Mr. Color dark green over Alclad. I used the kit decals which worked fine so long as I coated them with Solvaset. Despite the fit problems and the canopy this is the best MiG-17 in 1/48 scale.
KursadA
Great job. I like the paint scheme and the restrained weathering. Thanks for the comments about the kit, too; I think I will buy one myself.
