  1. Most inside flaps were opened permanently and outside flaps were opened wide out while parking. In fact, most Skyraiders had the inside flaps removed. But do check your reference before deciding. Check http://skyraider.org and http://vnaf.net Regards Triet
  2. Here: The tag in this forum is a little different. Click on the picture to see its property and you'll see how I used your tag to post image Regards Triet
  3. Glad to be of service. Good luck Fast. Regards Triet
  4. Maybe these pictures will help. Here's the side view. It would appeared to be all gull gray with outside control surfaces in white. Since this picture was in 1966, I am 99.9% sure it had spoke wheels. Notice no wing insignias. Here's the cowl. Notice it's suppose to be a tiger head. The squadron masscot was called "Phi Ho", translation - Flying Tiger. Here's the art version of the tiger head. Given my mediocre artistic license, that as close as I can replicate it. Regards Triet
  5. Hasegawa just re-released the Skyraider again with the SOS markings in Vietnam. Kind of expensive ($24.00 USD) for a 1/72 kit. Wonder if they changed the wheel hub style or added anything, at least give us some more ordinance? Glad I got a few for $15 when they were around before. Triet
  6. If you mean the solid wheel hub, I don't believe so. CMK exterior set had a set or resin wheel, but it appeared to be the spoke wheels. I don't know what their logics were because the fine Hasegawa wheels are already there. Sorry but the only road for this one is to scratch build. Regards Triet
  7. FWIW, if you can't make the resin side walls fit, you can cut out some of the detail boxes and glue them to the fuselage. I didn't even used the resin walls. It will be very dark and hard to see once the pit is in place. You can't really see the side wall details much anyway. Good luck! Take care Triet
  8. Sky: I'd suggest you sand the cockpit to make it fit rather than the fuselage wall. or there wouldn't be any walls left. I don't know how deep I took off, but I did sand quite a bit of materials off the cocpit in order to get it in place. And forget about using the resin side walls included, no way you can make it fit with the pit in it. The Aires pit had very poor fit compare to the CMK cockpit. Regards Triet
  9. I don't know about the 1/48 scale Command0. That sheet had been out of production so long. But if you have the Classic Airframe F-5A kit, the VNAF decal sheet is perfect. Regards Triet
  10. So do I. Spent a couple of months searching for that sheet, only to find out the checker band and the insignias were too big. Also the yellow is very translucent. No white background. The dark green just eats right through the yellow, making it looked greenish yellow. Bummer. Regards Triet
  11. Hi command0: Yes I did paint the yellow band, but the black diamonds were created from a clear laserjet decal printed by a Laserjet printer. Microscale did a Vietnamese F-5 sheet a while back, but I think the checker band was way oversize. I used "Blue tacs" to mask the camo lines. Quite tedious job, but it worked for me. Regards Triet
  12. Here is Revell of Germany F-5B. I finished this a few months before group build started. Painted with MM enamel. I lighten the tan considerably - otherwise its too dark. Hope y'all like it. Regards Triet
  13. Didn't discover group build 'til today. Regards Triet
  14. What's a Kick Off cCassic? Not sure what it is, but I sure know it's still available. You can buy it a Greatmodels.com or order directly from Meteor production (http://www.meteorprod.com) HTH Triet
  15. Triet Cam, Are you ready for a formation flight with me? ;) :) Too bad! we had the same serial # on the tail! oh well! Cheer! Notes: thanks to Fred for his ground equipment, we had a lot of fun under the sun yesterday! to created " OLD TIME or REAL TIME" :) You take the lead. I'll follow in - rollin hot! I like the added cat whiskers - a feature often missed on many Skraider models. Great Work Let Triet
  16. I use sewing needle in a pin vise. The tip of the needle can give you very thin lines, or thicker depending how sharp the tip is. Plus they're cheaper than other scribing tools Regards Triet
  17. I think the grainy looks may due to paint being too thick. I find that with gloss, I need to thin the paint alot, usually 1:1 ratio or to very loose viscosity like water. Of course that would mean you may have to make repeated passes for good coverage. I find after 3 coats, the surfaces is mirror like. Working wih gloss requires patience. Your mileage may differ.
