  1. Jari's photo link shows both Mk 117 and Mk82 loaded on TER's with only two per side, but at least one pic in the bunch with three Mk 82's per side. Great link Jari! Cheers
  2. Hi Gary, My father-in-law flew these in the early part of Vietnam off the Enterprise on her round the world cruise. His comments were: 1) The ablative coating didn't start showing up until about a year after the Enterprise fire in 1969. So, you wouldn't want to use them on anything earlier then 1971 to be safe. 2) Most likely it would be symmetrical, but anything cleared for the Scooter, of equal weight, COULD be on opposite side. 3) No reason he could think of that the TER's would not have three 82's per rack. 4) He couldn't remember an adapter for the outboard pylons. I've never seen p
  3. What he said! (from a honkey that can color match with his arms in the winter)
  4. Yup, I got it and have other plans for markings on this one. I need to find a BIG envelope and cardboard to protect it before I drop it in the mail, but it's yours if you still want to swap. Can you live with copies of the four pages of markings and paint instructions? I'd like to keep this set with the kit. Let me know and I'll get this on it's way after I hear back. No luck finding info on the 232 markings, hopefully someone else might. Cheers!
  5. David, give a few to go dig through my warehose. I'm almost certain I can help you out with the trade. BBS
  6. I know the discussion has tip-toed around the scale being 1/48, but since Hasegawa released their 1/32 A/C with these markings, and I've never seen one of there 48 kits so marked it begs the question. I have a 1/32 scale sheet that Revell did for the "updated" F-16C they reissued in 91 that had those markings. But scouring my decal stash didn't yield the Micro/Superscale 344 sheet I thought I had.
  7. Turtle, YOU are the Man!!!!! That is the first time I have ever been able to get an explaination for the origin of the "D-704" moniker. And also explains why noboby in the Navy ever recognized that term when asked. That's about as simple as "what comes between A and C?" Way to go!
  8. In the opening scene of the movie, the Yellowshirt doing the ol'Irish kick in the air after the Tomcat lands was one of my division Chief Petty Officers from V-1 div (flight deck) on the USS Kitty Hawk in 83-84. He transfered to the "E" right at the end of the 84 Westpac. Everybody who served with him KNEW it was "Wishbone" doin the dance when the movie came out. Great bunch of guys on that cruise and no place better to work, what a rush!
  9. Hey Kyle, Yup, the SuperBug set does have separate hatches all cast in white resin, I'd recommend getting the Fischer replacement pilots hatch which is cast in clear resin. It also comes with the later non-clamshell seat. They do the elevons and also the intakes, and Aires does a great afterburner set. Good luck with giant project.
  10. Chuck, Steve's link above, to the 2007 discussion on the matter has a lot of great photos and relevant info, without answering the question. The short answer is yes, since the "D-704" is built into a drop tank hull! The subject as to whether it is the one from A-4, A-7, A-6, S-3, 18A/C or 18E/F is a bit more convoluted. Essentially there are two variants of the same thing, BOTH based on the same basic drop tank. If you walk up to an Aviation Machinist Mate and ask him to tell you about a "D-704," he'll look at you funny nod and scratch his head asking "What's that?" I have yet to find any N
  11. Hey Ollie, Attic resin, http://atticaircraft.com/, has recently com out with a 1/48 KC-135. It's a shell and $149. It would require a lot of work to bring up beyond desktop standards, landing gear and cockpit surface detail and the like. I also have one of the old vac kits mentioned above, but found out too late that it had two of the same side fuselage halfs. The same applys with this one, needs gear, cockpit, etc. I have also heard an unconfirmed rumor of someone working on a 48th resin "H" BUFF. We shall see. Hope this helps

  13. Hi Mike, to address your question, the Verlinden EPU, #354, is the Navy NC-2A, more commonly refered to as a "duece". I know it was used from the early 70's thru the late 80's as I was shipboard during that period. However, I believe that they were used starting in the mid/late 60's and as late as 2000, but someone who served on flight decks would be able to verify that. I agree that the PWMP MD-3a deck tractor is really nice, but it is scaled slightly smaller than the Verlinden deck tractor. Not having a set of dimensions handy for the MD-3 tractor, I measured the drivers compartments and
