  1. As far as the railings and ladders, mix elmers and water, 50/50 in a beer bottle cap, the drink the beer while using an old brush to apply a little glue at a time, letting it wick along the bottom, an inch or so at a time until it's all the way fastened. Once it's dry, apply one more coat all the way along, just to firm it up. Do the same with the ladders. The plus is elmers dries flat, and it gives you time for adjustments. If there are railings that have lots of angles, fold it all first, then work it into position. There are a millions techniques, but that is what works for me. As far
  2. Thanks for the words guys. I usually build maybe two WWI aircraft a year, that's all I can stand without starting shelf queens. I'll have to check out that website, sounds cool. It is tiny, but I have a bit of OCD when it comes to my models, I like thinks to all be in the same scale, 1/48 and 1/350, just so my shelf is all in scale, I know, it's weird. A friend of mine built the Wing Nuts kit, it is BEAUTIFUL! I started the seat and the rudder pedals, so I'm going to work on the wood grain tonight, if it turns out, I'll post more pictures tonight. Here is a picture of my last plane, Edua
  3. One month to go!! Land is in sight, stop by and see all the great work that's been done.
  4. Based on what I've read, I wouldn't want to be the first either! What I find truly remarkable is the fact that the German pilots kill records, and that the time was referred to as the Fokker Scourge, prove that no matter how unstable or difficult it was to fly, they mastered it! Here is an update, I did some touch up painting, and built up the throttle quadrant, that thing was small. Next up is to put the PE and paint the rudder pedals, and the same with the seat. This may take a few days, I'll have to paint wood grain, plus I have some other projects. More to follow....... Bill
  5. Mainmast is finished and installed. Now on to the gun directors! More to follow....... Bill
  6. Mainmast is done, need to paint it tomorrow. More to follow......... Bill
  7. Yup, I'm building an E.III, there was nothing over fantastic about this plane other than the interrupting gear. The British tested an intact example that landing on the wrong side, and thought it was very unstable and had a tendency to dip to the right due to torque. Not much to look at in this update, the basic interior is painted and some basic weathering done. I still have to do some touch up and detail painting before adding the rest of the parts, but this is all my nerves are going to sfaely let me do, THIS THING IS SMALL! Beer cap for to add some scale. More to follow...... Bill
  8. I haven't posted a WIP in a long time, at least for an aircraft, so here it goes. I'll be building this Eindecker as the subject says. I'm not really sure why, but this has always been my favorite WWI aircraft, no particular reason other than its so cool looking, especially the aluminum cowling. This kit should pretty straightforward, except for the rigging. The rigging itself doesn't trouble me on WWI builds, but on this particular aircraft, a lot of it attaches to some pretty delicate PE, so a little too much tension will pop parts loose. I guess things I've learned with rigging ship
  9. Thanks Sebastijan. The foremast and the top foremast are finished. Tonight I'll build the gun directors, and the forward superstructure will be done. It's really starting to feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel, I was starting to feel in a time crunch a week ago, just due to the amount to PE I had left, but this kit it so good it all went together with no issues. Now I'm starting to look for a good rigging diagram, to make it as accurate as possible. More to follow, Bill
  10. The foremast is done, all it needs is paint. I'm pretty pleased with myself for being able to finish this in the span of 1 football game! More to follow..... Bill
  11. This wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was going to be. Happy Thanksgiving everyone, GO LIONS! Bill
  12. I love the fact that Michigan State NEVER lead against Ohio State or U of M and still won both games. That's Spartyball. I honestly think, and not because I love everything Sparty, that Mark Dantonio is going to be an enduring legend of NCAA football.
  13. My Secretary of War doesn't really care, I have a model room that is set aside for storing the stash, plus my model railroad. But I've slowly started taking over another room with my Military collections.......in the name of history
  14. NICE!!!!!! This is a seldom seen or heard of, yet pivotal ship, what era are you going to model Her?
  15. I decided with the foremast, to start a WIP, since it has close to 75 pieces to it. Here is the Starfish Platform that makes up the core of the structure. Next up is to make the cage structure that goes on to the fighting top, that is going to be a pain! More to follow...... Bill
  16. GO SPARTY!!!! Only because there is so much U of M talk
  17. Last weeks South Park episode was a half hour of mostly bashing this topic, it was really funny.
  18. As promised, the main batteries are finished. Here is A and B turret X and Y turret. More to follow........ Bill
  19. I know it's been awhile since my last update, but I've been out of town. Before I left I actually did finish all the main batteries, and the boats, but I didn't have time to take pictures. I'm driving home tomorrow, so there will be a big update this weekend.
  20. Nice job Sebastijan, I always liked the look of the typhoon.
  21. It's on the map. Tomorrow I'm going to snap some pictures of the Hindenburg site and post them. I know this has nothing to do with hobby shops in Trenton, but I found it slightly ironic.
