  1. Or just check here at ARC's Helo referance pics. 7 different SeaKing galleries with lots of interior pics. Just scroll down to the "S" area. http://s96920072.onlinehome.us/walk-chopper.htm
  2. Hi Jon, thanks. No, I don't think I will be able to make it to Anniston. I have a family function that day.
  3. Thanks. Got the decals on last night. I would like to see Archunter's version too.
  4. SuperCobra, if the info came from you, thanks. I didn't know it was on this site somewhere too. I copied what I had saved from when I was building an AH-1W and asked questions about it at FSM Helo forum a couple years ago. Great info, thanks again
  5. Yes, the W has upgraded engines as you mention, but that is not the reason for the different exhaust outlets. The W 's are that way to reduce IR emissions, just as the Blackhawk got the HIRSS in the late '80s to reduce IR emissions. Early UH-60A with straight exhaust outlets Later UH-60L with HIRSS (Hover Infra-Red Suppression System) exhaust outlets
  6. The main external difference is in the exhaust set-up and sail. The T had a UH-1N style sail and exhaust outlets. The W has larger, IR reducing exhaust outlets and the sail looks more like a Bell 412 sail. AH-1T AH-1W Here is some info on them for ODS use. I believe almost all units were using W models by then. All AH-1Ws were originally painted in the USMC tri-color (black, green, gray) camouflage scheme that first appeared in the mid-1980s. Just prior to deploying to Desert Shield, HMLA-367 “Scarface†painted all of their AH-1Ws and UH-1Ns with light coat of gray based on the
  7. Here is the HH-60G with its initial paint applied. Now on to decaling and the weathering. Here is the original that I am attempting to recreate. And mine so far... More to come as it continues....
  8. You actually have the best large-scale UH-1 model on the market...still. The seam, if done properly is minimal. Close it up tightly and you should have almost no seam to deal with. If you have to sand or fill the seam, simply scribe cross-hatches back into the area that the detail was lost from. I have built a few of the Revell UH-1H models, and they can come out great. Also, if you are into accuracy, don't build it as a gunship. The US never used UH-1Hs in the gunship role. Hs were only used as Slicks, troop carriers armed with M60D doorguns. The kit decals are from an actual slick
  9. Thanks all. Yup Grant, your pic has made it around quite a bit. As stated, not all have the center mounted WX radar. It really depends on which helo you are building. It depends on what level of upgrade they are in and what the govt. wanted to pay for to have upgraded. Best bet is to get a picture and build it as you see it.
  10. Thanks guys. I'll keep you posted. I should be able to lay some paint on it this weekend.
  11. Don't know of any AM or replacement ones out there. You could try making a replacement out of clear acetate. All you have to do is heat it up till it is malleable and then force it down over the original. Another option is to try to get a replacement from Monogram.
  12. Thanks guys, glad you like it. The FLIR head and mount is from the CC set. The G model kit doesn't include the FLIR head. It looks the same as the one in the DAP kit though. Grant, I just build when I can. I have had quite a bit of time the last couple of weekends.
  13. Here is the latest update on my 1/35 USAF Reserve HH-60G from Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ in OIF 1. It is just about ready for paint. I added quite a bit to the exterior as well. I have plumbed the brake lines for the main gear and tail wheel. Oil lines to the main rotor. Six Flare/Chaff launchers and their wiring. The launchers and their mounts are copies of the ones in the Academy MH-60L DAP kit with more defined boxes added. These are courtesy of a fellow modeler from Italy. I have also added the APR-39 antennas to the depressions in the nose, along with the A/R boom light for nightime A/
  14. I use fine mesh, usually tulle or bridal veil material, for the flooring. Get the plastic soft with liquid glue, then press the mesh into it. For the wall padding, you can use quilted paper towels. Just glue them onto the wall with some PVA glue. Good luck.
  15. Looks awesome. Did you make the decals yourself? They look great.
  16. The boxes are the same size and can be loaded with either ammo type. It is up to unit SOP or crew preference as to the weapon load-out of 2 GAU-2s, 2 GA-18 .50 cals, or one of each. Here is the external weapon mount / ammo set-up. GAU-18 .50 cal GAU-2 (M134 Army designation) minigun

Looking good. I would change the top on the destroyed HMMWV though. The type depicted in the Tamiay M249 Bushmaster kit was an experimental troop carrier version that was never bought by the US Military. A standard M1025 Hardtop would be more appropriate, with some add-on armor plates.
  18. Not sure what you mean about "new nose," unless you mean the center-mounted weather radar. You have found a pic of a partially upgraded Block 152 HH-60G. It has basically all the Block 152 upgrades, but the weather radar has been left in the offset, as opposed to placing it in the center of the nose. It also doesn't have the external weapons and ammo mounts, but these are the latest mods and not installed on many birds yet. Many HH-60Gs are left in this configuration. The one I am building from OIF 1 still has the offset radar and internal weapons/ammo box as well. The box on the
  19. Thay have the wrong shape. The sides should bulge out as opposed to being mainly flat as in the kit.
  20. Nope. The AFSOC Gray, a.k.a. Gunship Gray, scheme has only been applied to them since about 2000, as they go through depot rebuild/upgrade to Block 152 standards, which upgrades about all the parts you list as being on your build.
  21. The side bulkhead detail is all scratch-built from sheet styrene, filler putty, hex rod, lead foil, and some elbow grease. You can see the added pieces in the below pic.
  22. Thanks guys. Austin, check your email.
