I am doing a little research to build a early F-4J Phantom II of VMFA-232 at Chu Lai Vietnam circa 1969. I found a photo on the "House of Phantom" website which shows F-4J 155811 with a centerline gun pod (bottom photo). From the the slightly off head on view, I can't tell if the pod is the Colt Mk.4 HIPEG 20mm pod developed for the Navy or the SUU-23 20mm rotary cannon pod developed for the USAF. From the head on angle, both pods look very similar, the SUU-23 having a greater diameter. I am leaning toward the Colt Mk.4 as it would have been USN certified for carriage on the F-4J. K

Hi, These are my 4 Phantoms for the GB. The "Rockin Rhino" is an Eduard boxing of the Academy kit. The Academy and Hasegawa kits have not had any work done on them. The Zoukei Moura kit has had some cockpit parts glued together and the holes in the lower wing part drilled out. The Monogram kit is second hand and has had some minor work done, a bit of nose weight installed and a bit of paint wildly splahsed onto it. I will use the Steel Beach upgrade set on the Monogram kit (I feel this is a neccesary addition to make it a true F-4J). Cheers,

Hi! I built the CAG bird with typical Linebacker load and well worn condition. Here my Hasegawa Phantom with Rhino seamless intakes, Eduard's brass, wheels, exhausts, Furball decals and some scratch build mainly in chassis area. All paints are from Gunze MrColor "C" series. Weapons from Hasegawa's weapon set. Thanks for looking!

Two new 1/32 F-4 Phantom releases. Both now in stock and available to order (Aug 12) www.AOAdecals.com 32-021 VMFA-334 Falcons: Lovebug 5 - UMSC F-4J Phantom in the Vietnam War & Japan A relatively simple sheet, only one aircraft is covered (can be represented either from Vietnam or later in 1969 when -334 were in Japan). Although VMFA-334 Phantoms have been covered before, the falcon insignia in particular was somewhat lacking until now as well as correct size (large) numbers. National insignia, intake warnings, as well as a few other data stencils/markin

I've just started my second ZM F-4J; this one to be a Blue Angel jet. After rooting around, I can't find a really definitive color. I know Model Master does one that looks good and CAM's decal instructions have a recipe they say is most correct. Both look darkish to me. I'm also thinking the blue has been varied over the years. Any thoughts? Does anyone have definitive cockpit info? I do know the pilot's radar scope was replaced by a bearing distance heading indicator, accelerometer and vor. I assume the rio's scope was also removed. I do have the Thunderbirds -1 supplement showing the differe
