Here's a project I did a couple years ago, as a gift for a fellow race photographer who spent his share of time in the Hell Hole of a Skyraider. As I looked through my personal reference shots I discovered I had seen one in the same VAW-11 markings displayed at March AFB so with minimal adjustments it could represent one of the airframes he flew on. My digital painting is made for giclee prints to fit a 10x20" frame at 500dpi. Here are a few cropped areas that show the level of detail a little better. - - - -

While researching for a new project, I stumbled on this colourful picture of a VNAF Skyraider. From the nose badge, I supposed that the plane belonged to the 520th Squadron Than Bao (Divine Panther) based at Binh Thuy, South Vietnam between 1965 and 1968. What’s unusual is the blue star-studded rudder reminiscent of the blue fuselage sash on VNAF A-37s. Incidentally the 520th Sqn converted to A-37 in 1968. Can you, Skyraider experts, tell me more about it ? What I’d need most is the serial number of this aircraft. I also remember having seen a picture of another

Hello! This is my VNAF Spad, a very nice kit from Tamiya. Used some Eduard PE and decals from AOA, since the originals were too old. Cammo was free hand painted (Gunze) and I scratch built a few details, like the wiring to the ejection seat system and those static dischargers. Hope you enjoy! Cheers! ps: by the way, the chart over the panel is a very reduced WAC 1:1000.000 of South Vietnam. George

This is a build of the 1/48 Tamiya A-1H Skyraider for a client specifying the airplane flown by his father while embarked on the USS Enterprise with the VA-65 Tigers during the October 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1/72 scale Hasegawa has a kit that would have fit the bill perfectly (save for the BuNo and cowl number)… … but 1/48 scale was strongly desired, which points squarely to the Tamiya kit. So, there will be some custom artwork required to replicate BuNo 35322 and other VA-65 specific markings. This is the only p

hi everybody. i am building the vf 176 buzz 409 lt. patton's skyraider bird. the kit is an hasegawa 1/72 combo of which i have already built a korean war able dog. patton's mount is not included in the options, and i have aftermarket decals for it. the instructions call for a silver/aluminum stripe on the wing's leading edge, but as for that it is indicated the removal of the outer 20 mm. gun for the period, albeit it is evident in every picture that patton had the original four 20 mike mikes. though, from the patton's pics i can't tell wether the "silver" stripe on t
