Glockster
Looking for 1/48 markings for the three tone grey camo on F-18's from the "Blue Diamonds". USS Carl Vinson. No luck so far.
Netz
I didn't know there was a tree tone F-18 camo. Was it an Agresser? Curt
David Walker
I don't know if this will help or not, but half way down this page are several views of a VFA-146 triple grey F/A-18C kit build-up. It looks like it's from the USS Stennis though. I know there are some photos floating around out there as I used to have a couple saved but unfortunately I can't find them now. http://skweez.web.infoseek.co.jp/VFA146ROOM.html Edited July 24, 2007 by David Walker
David Walker
Here you go, there was an earlier thread about this, with a hi-rez photo. (it was probably the one I saved) http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....&hl=VFA-
Incaroad
I didn't know there was a tree tone F-18 camo. Was it an Agresser? Curt Hi Curtis, This one from VX-5 China Lake circa 1984-5 was in the 3 tone gray camo. Wish it looked like it did when it was just finished. It lost the argument between my X and me. Here is a photo I just scanned taken on March 26, 1985 Three distinctly different shades of gray. Cheers, Larry.
GreyGhost
These are all from the Blue Diamonds' website ... Don't know about decals though ... HTH ... Gregg
GreyGhost
Larry, that scheme that the VX-5 Hornet is wearing is the earlier three tone TAC scheme of the Hornet used from 1980 to about 1987 then they switched to a two tone scheme ... Gregg

Gregg Hi Gregg. Yep I knew that, I was just jokin with Curt. Just a little humor after Curt said he didn't know they had 3 tone gray schemes. And thought it was a good picture! ...Larry. prowler4
OK - that makes two sheets we need (any decal guys listening?). In 48th( or 72nd), we need the three tone VFA-146 camo AND the camo EA-6B from VAQ-142 Grey Wolves in its last deployment to Bagram. That would be cool.
Mark M.
It's not Agressor, which is a totally devoted unit with special aircraft types. It's a DACT (Dissimilar Air Combat Training) scheme. Twobobs has one for a VFA 97 bird ("VFA 97 Part II") that builds up into a nice plane. It has the same colors, but in a different camo pattern. Just a tip :D
usnavyam3
Here's some pics of one of the F/A-18B here at 106 in a 2 tone scheme. This aircraft sadly was repainted shortly after these were taken.

Darren Roberts
Did you get that from VFC-12? It sure does look like the same camo pattern.
prowler4
Did you get that from VFC-12? It sure does look like the same camo pattern. If you look at the seventh picture - 2nd row, third one over - it looks like VFC-106 to me. Maybe they got them from the Omars. Perhaps?
usnavyam3
Yeah we got it from VFC-12 with 2 A+'s when they were getting the charlie models from VFA-87. They were all in this same camo scheme. It stayed in these colors for almost 2 months and was the last repainted to the boring normal colors.
