TexasBlues
ok.. i have started the engine on this beast with the idea that i was going to shade it after the base coat of aluminum... and i did so with a wash of Paynes Grey/Turpenoid... i thought it looked good... then after refilling my printer cartridges, i had the bright idea that maybe, just maybe, the black ink would produce a BETTER look... so now, im asking for opinions... the order is as follows: from the left straight aluminum, paynes grey, straight aluminum, black printer ink please let me know what you think... i apologize for the photo quality and the lame lighting... ALL comments are welcome... Edited May 9, 2008 by TexasBlues
Sebastijan
paynes gray looks best to my eyes
CorsairMan
I would shoot flat black on the cylinders and then a drybrush of aluminium.
rjwood_uk
paynes grey looks best there but CorsairMan's idea good look really good. Richard

rjwood_uk
looking good! what references are you using for the it? Yes it should be in the in-progress forum really, but mistakes happen... Richard
TexasBlues
my references so far are: CorsairMan and i google a bunch of stuff... i found a bunh of really good pix of the engine there, saved them on my computer, and open them up when i need a look... if anyone out there has the PW R2800 Double Wasp, jus google 'PW R2800' under images... it workd great for me thanks for the kind words... more detailing to follow... and more pix too... maybe with a new camera! Jack-Swiss
Much better now with the new camera but still your pics are small in the post and need to be clicked manually one by one! dont know why...and also even when you click tem are always lil bit undersized from "nowadays" cameras... for sure though,is visible the better quality!!!
