Trumpeter 1/72 RA-5C Vigilante

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

After not completing an aircraft for nearly a year (and just one piece of armor), I just finished this Trumpeter 1/72 RA-5C Vigilante. It's largely OOB, with the exception of the radar in the nose, robbed from an Eduard set for the F-105.

I really like the option for displaying the stabilizer and wings folded, but if you install the vertical stabilizer in the up position, be ready to spend a lot of time filling that big, nasty joint! I wound up rescribing the entire stab.

I painted the model with Tamiya paint, mixed to an approximation of the correct color by eye.

Thanks to my friend Bud for doing a color correction of my shabby photos!

Great work!

You've completed an excellent Vigilante and it's really enhanced by the folded wingtips and opened radome (brilliant use of available resin by the way). I also think your paint mix has nailed the look of gull grey; well done.

Cheers,

Andrew.
