i personaly feel she'll go under the torch

although china hasn't got any presently

Although China doesn't have any "operational" carriers presently. Since 1985, China has acquired four retired aircraft carriers for study: the Australian HMAS Melbourne and the ex-Soviet carriers Minsk, Kiev and Varyag. Reports state that two 50,000-60,000 ton aircraft carriers are due to be finished by 2015. Sukhoi Su-33s (navalized Flankers) are the aircraft most likely to be flown from these carriers.

The 67,500 ton ex-Soviet aircraft carrier Varyag (Admiral Kuznetsov class), looks to be the most promising carrier, but in the end it is likely that China will combine aspects from different designs and come up with their own homegrown class of carriers.

IIRC....the Varyag was acquired for 20 million dollars and was a new carrier that was 70% complete. My guess is this will be their first operational carrier. Operating an aircraft carrier requires a certain degree of experience and the challenge for China will be to develope aircraft carrier operational experience and knowledge, plus they need to get the mechanical systems designed on the ship........so there is a time consumning process for them to go through. But I have no doubt they will overcome all this.
