Newcastle harbour on Australia Day.

Recommended Posts

G'day All,

We had a few aerial activities over (and on) Newcastle harbor to celebrate Australia Day.

Paul Bennet opened proceedings with his solo Pitts display.

Then the RAAF delivered a Hawk flypast.

and they were even kind enough to send one of the newly painted jets. :D

and the highlight of the day was the appearance of the HARS Catalina which even did a couple of water touch-and-gos on the harbor!

And the day's flying events were closed by Paul Bennet again, together with with Glenn Collins, giving a formation display (just after a heavy shower had passed through).

Not a bad day at all. :)

Cheers,

Motty.

Many thanks everyone. Glad you like them.

Nev, They wanted something a little more high viz whilst still being grey, and better wearing. Hence why the colours are glossy too.

Scotthldr, Yes, the jets have always been swapped around between the two squadrons, to help manage fatigue. Of late, 76Sqn's line has looked more like 79Sqn. ;) There was talk of doing away with the markings altogether at one stage. That's when I suggested the dual markings to alleviate the issue and now, as they get repainted, that's what they are doing.

Cheers,

Motty.
