peter havriluk
Started assembling this first-generation jet, and there's no engines, or blanking plates for the holes, in the cowlings. Anybody know of someone sells something to fill the holes, preferably something that looks like the compressor end of the engine? Suggestions? Thanks!
Spruemeister
The front end of a J-31 is a mass of bits and plumbing, and not much that looks like a jet engine compressor. Scratch build the conglomeration, or blank plate the intake. Rick L.
peter havriluk
Rick, thanks. Time for a blanking plate.

airmechaja
Nice pic of the J-31 Chris. Yeah the centrifical flow turbines were a far cry from looking like an axial flow turbine.
ChesshireCat
If memory serves me right, use the front half of a Meteor engine as both started out from the same design team. There are many internal differences, and a few external as well. Last I heard there was at least one on display in Indy. I'd also guess a Mig15 engine would be reasonably close. Rob Mignard
Here's a look down the intake. The right intake is similar. Mig
SinisterVampire319
Nice shot of right intake here. http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/howard_mason2/p-59a_airacomet/index.php?Page=2 Check these out too. https://www.net-maquettes.com/pictures/bell-p-59a-airacomet-walk/
Spruemeister
Looks like 2614 doesn't have the engines installed. Somewhere in my archives I have pictures of the J-31 engine on display with the P-59 at the Pioneer museum in Minden, Nebraska which is only about three hours from me. But you can do better with pics on the internet anyway. That aerodynamic fairing inside the intake covers up most of the engine. It is in the kit but its anemic and not the correct shape. A correct one would be a nice add on part and go a long way toward filling up the intake to eliminate the see through effect. Rick L.
Rob Mignard
Here's the right engine intake. Should have included it in my initial post.
