claude
Hy Guys, My new project is to change the TBM 1 Avenger from academy into the RAF Avenger Mk II (TBM 1C). The kit is old and very simple. I'll have much work here... <_< The A/C has raised panel lines and absolutely no detail in the interior. The first step was to cut the bomb bay doors, because I want to leave it opened. The I glued together and fixed with epoxi on a suport... Then I warmed a piece of stirene sheet and make a "heat and smash" copy... As you can see, it fits very well... Cheers, Edited December 6, 2005 by claude
claude
Next step was doing the same process (heat and smash) with the canopy, using clear acetate... The engine cowling was completely wrong on the kit, representing the TBM 3 instead of the TBM 1. Some surgery was required... Here you can see the corret cowling with the flaps opened... I also replaced the original exhaust tubes for steel tubing cutted and sanded to shape. More pics soon... Cheers
claude
The panel lines were all sanded... Instead of scribing the panel lines I choosed to simulate the rivets using a Homemade "Rosie the Riveter" I liked the result Cheers

Gerfaut
Hi Claude, You make a terrible work. I can understand that you correct some pieces on a 1/144 scale aircraft, but rebuild the gunners turret, and probably the cockpit is a monster work. :o Congratulations.
