"New" Mig-23 in 1/48 from Italeri

Recommended Posts

Hard to tell by the angle of the photo so I can't be certain, but it does appear that it has a case of "droopy-rearend", as per the ESCI kit. Also indicative of an early and little used version of the Flogger as newer and more used MiG-23s sat more level. Nose seems a tad too pointy for a later version.

Again, hard to tell from the picture . . . but we'll know soon enough.

First off, it is said that Italeri already verified that it was the Esci kit. Second, the photo definitely looks like the Esci kit, particularly the lame missiles and the prominent mudguards on the front landing gear are giveaways. I don't understand why people expected a new tool when Italeri had been reboxing Esci molds left and right for several years in a row now.

We could only hope... Never know, one of these days, they'll prove us wrong.
