norbert
A new update here The sponsons are in place I tried this time to make rivets with Humbrol gold and a nail So far, I'm not so happy with that Then I test fit one of the pilots : he's head is higher than the roof :) Ouille Ouille ouille (in french) what's wrong, lets check with a 1/35 gunner from tamiya It seems that there are a few millimeters too much :( OK, I check my references : helmet is realy too big (and false) I will cut the pilot in two to get it smaller I will try also to remove something to the seat Will see if it is OK after that Think at me, I get stress, I realy want the pilots in installing themselves before start Norbert
Juanjo D.
Thanks for the update Norbert! It seems you're progressing with this beast.... Looking forward to see the efect of those raised rivets once painted (I still have a Seaking waiting in my stash ) by now they look pretty good. Looking foward too at how result the surgery on that pilot... Regards
norbert
A small update on the pilot figure I modified the figure, reshaped the helmet. the noriginal helmet border was not too bad still a lot of sanding and filling to do Yes, it goes under the roof !!! the basical posture is made. All details are to add yet, I think I have the right base A propos de base, did somebody have some pics of french navy helicopter pilot ? have a nice week Norbert

Zactoman
I see you are already using foil for details. Have you considered restoring the lost rivet detail by replacing the entire panel with foil and raised rivets? Check out the Madmans tutorial: HOW TO MAKE RAISED RIVETS? Great stuff so far! squalo
The cables of the landig are of that the same color of everything helicopter, or are diferent color?
FrankC
Norbert - this is looking awesome! The black box guy (Jeff - can't pronounce, let alone spell, his last name) once had a webpage up that explained how he did rivets. I think his technique might be useful to you in this case. He made the rivets by gluing bits of stretched sprue. They are sanded off uniformly and given a coat of testors liquid glue - this produces exact rivets.
Impatient Pete
Wow! Great build! There is so much talent here on ARC and I learn new techniques and get inspiration to brainstorm others almost every time I come here. Yah, I think I agree with the guys who say that you should use foil, embossed from the bach, to make rasied rivets. Oh, you can use styrene too. I did it to make a circuit breaker. I can direct you to a pic if you need. Pete
norbert
No update yet, we had a soccer match yesterday in Germany... thank you for your support on the rivet question. On the top of the model, there are only a few rivets to add, so I will do them with paint, my last tries were not too bad. There are also large areas without rivets (most panels are in fiber-glass) so I prefer not to use foil. On the bottom, I have a sharp edge all around and it is full with rivets. I will use Pierre's method with foil as I know how to stop the foil area. Otherwise, I use foil for pannels which are in overthickness. Yesterday, during the match, I modified my punch and die set to punch out 0.3 mm. I get something quite close to the model rivets. I will try yet 0.2 mm or 0.25 mm. Squalo, I do not know if I understand realy your question. however, the cables along the landing gear bar going from the fuselage to the sponson are in different colours as to my references : The thick one is black with black and aluminium fixation. seems to be an electrical cable ? The 2 thinners which are agains the thick black are black or dark grey the thin one alone seems in a grey colour narow to fuselage colour, with black and aluminim fixation (hydraulic wire ?) well that was a questtion, it is even difficult to see on the close-up pics I found on FFSMC On an other side, on the pics I have from Israeli Super-frelon, the cables are painted in fuselage colour So again, Chris, Frank, Pete, thank you for your help Norbert

norbert
Excellent job so far Isn't the pilot seated on the RIGHT side ? I'm not a specialist, but if I understand well, pilots usualy are on one side (the right one ?) but on SAR hellos, or french SAR hellos, they are on the other side. So far we do not get a confirmation from somebody "who knows", my pilot may be a copilot Norbert
