pminer
But what does the J stand for?

drhornii
I think the "J" is a class type designation. As with military references, you may need the data sheet that explains it. The Tulsa F-16C Block 42 has a CG designation which means it is Lantirn capable. I think the J version has the added Wild Weasel capability. On F-16.net I found this. Just my guess.... habu2
"J" typically denotes a USAF Block 50/52. The folklore is that it stands for "jammer", a nod to its HTS pod capablity and the SEAD/DEAD role
Capricorn
I think "CJ" is an operational designation used in air tasking orders, Block 50/52 is a technical designation.
dreammh
Actually I have been wondering the same thing too. USAF Block 50s and 52s are called F-16CJ. But I never hear anyone call the RSAF Block 52 F-16CJs. I hear some people call it F-16 Block 52J.
gb_madcat_sl
I was just wondering... RSAF F-16C Block 52s are not HARM capable but have the capability to sling GBUs and LANTIRN pods... So are they Block 52s or Block 40/42s?
RedHeadKevin
Gawd, what a stupid question. Just kidding. It stands for "Jibba-Jabba." Mr. T has no time for Wild Weasel Vipers.
