OK......I'm pulling together the ARC schedule for the 2006 Nationals.

In the Crown Center mall that is connected to the hotel......are there any casual bars? The hotel has Specatators sports bar, but I'm just wondering if there are other options. I'm not interested in upscale lounges and for security reasons and the risk of DUI's, I'd prefer to keep any drinking confined to the convention hotel.

Is there a breakfast place within walking distance to the hotel......maybe within 4 blocks? I'm thinking of a Dennys or IHop type of place. The hotel offers a full breakfast buffet for $13 so we might just eat breakfast in the hotel.

------------------------------------------------------

Lunches will be in the food fair in the Crown Center mall at 1pm to avoid the crowds.

---------------------------------------------

Dinners look like this

Wednesday dinner is wide open.....maybe dinner at a casual restaurant off sitte for anyone that is in KC this night.......Steve Bamford will be there. Any suggestions? Steve Filak arrives the following day.

Thursday Dinner.......5pm Skies rotating restaurant dinner....should be early to fit in the 6 or 7 pm start of the TwoBobs party.....we can see the entire city from up there.

Friday Dinner.......6:30pm BBQ dinner at Arthur Bryant's....supposed to be the best in the city.

Saturday Dinner.......Awards banquet....we must organize this and get there early in a group....meet at a pre-determined location and grab tables together. We can't reserve tables and if we're not organized ARC'ers will be spread across many tables.

Guys,

Have a suggestion as to BBQ on wednesday evening. There is a GATES BBQ place just south of Crown Center on Main ST.Not more than a mile or so from Crwon Center. If this works for u,then we all get together before around 4:00 PM and see what developes.Arthur Brany's is about two odd miles northest of Crwon Center and should also be considered for the meet and dinner as well.If i remmeber right. It's over in the 18th and Vine area.Larry

That Jack Stack place is closer. Since I'll be hoofing it that would be my preference. However, I reserve the right to change my mind ;-)) Is this Gates place any better, same ??? We can't have too many choices or we'll be like a government and no decision will get made...lol

Word of caution - the good and bad areas of town are not that far apart from the Hyatt area. When you get there, you will see very quick changes in scenery in a very short distance and you will see what I am referring to.

As far as Bryants. I have always been warned by the locals when I moved to KC was not to go to the Brooklyn location after dark. My recommendation is to go to the Ameristar location which is as safe as it is going to get (cameras on every square foot of the place since it is a casino), roving security patrols, plentful parking (most of the city can probably park there), and it is easy to find (you can't miss it because the place if so big), and plenty of other things to do there after dinner - it is all indoors and air conditioned (it is typically very hot and humid in August).

To Anyone who has no ride for the dinner, either wednesday or thursday night.

I'll pop for the ride if u wabt to go and whoever needs a ride.hate to see anyone walk in this heat.Steve has the idea as to gordo's comments on the Ameristar casino after dark.Ans the idea of everyone meeting in front of the vender's room sounds like a plan. But can be finalized at that time.Larry

I disagree wholeheartedly - Bryant's is the BEST!!!! :*)

Went to Jack Stack once and their meat was dry - could have done it better myself. Maybe we went on a bad day, but we have never gone back since.

Bryant's is definitely the best bang for the buck. Jack Stack is more of a formal restaurant, while Bryant's is more like a BBQ stand type of set up.

Just like the less filling / tastes great beer argument, there will be different opinions from anyone you ask. But, Spruebrothers recommends Bryant's.

HTH,

Gordon
