Floyd S. Werner, Jr.
Anyone know what kind of weapon would have made that kind of hole? RPG perhaps? :) It was an RPG. What you see there is the entry wound. It left the aircraft without exploding. The aircraft was landed by the crew. The Maintenance Test Pilot was in the flight, landed beside them, assessed the damage and said I've flown worse and flew it back to base. He got an Air Medal if I'm not mistaken for saving the aircraft from being destroyed or captured. Lucky crew. Maintenance Test Pilots, myself included, flew the broken stuff that nobody else would. LOL Sort of our way of doing business. Great guys and a great aircraft. Floyd

If it just went through it, the hole would be much smaller and you wouldn't have had the blast damage to the rocket pod. Regardless, that is a very lucky crew. Can't believe that they flew it back to base after that hit. John
11bee
Found these as I was browsing Google.. 11bee you might like that one Add your own if you got them :D =Awan Nice pics Anthony, thanks for posting. I wish there was a larger version of "my" KW. It looks like there are some markings / painting details that weren't mentioned in the Fireball decal set. Anyone have any ideas what colors the panels are for mounting the laser detectors? They look like a different color than helo drab. John
UK_tomcat_fan
i think it would have been a brown suit moment if i experienced that...
MarioK
I think the mounting plates are drab, and if not they should be black. It's probably mentioned in the walkaround Rotorwash, please post more if you got any! Edited December 16, 2008 by MarioK
