Light grey F-117's?

Recommended Posts

Thanks Stav!

Is this a common scheme, replacing the normal black aircraft?

i dont think so

That aircraft was owned by the 53rd test and evaluation group. They were testing it to see if it could also be used in daytime.

The paint sheme is alot like the f-22's camo.

I believe they used the exact same paint.

I wish they would go with this scheme, or a similar one. Lockheed planned on gray for the 117 in the first place, but the Air Force wanted black.

A while back someone did a model of this.

(Searching...)

Here we are.

I was actually under the impression that the evaluation proved the new scheme a sucess and I thought the idea was for further grey F-117.

However that was nearly a year ago...........does anyone know anything more?

No, it's not the new standard scheme...not yet anyway. It's still under evaluation at Holloman AFB. I built a 1/72 Hase version last year, if you were  IPMSUSA nats last year you probably saw it:Grey Dragon

I'd forgotten all about that model Habu!...

don't suppose you still have the artwork do you?,i'd love aset of those in 1/48..

the grey jet they had a Edwards would be nice too,but i've never seen many clear pics of it :(

i'm not 100% sure but i think they are the same used on the Mod-Eagle F-15C/D's

FS36176 Dark Gull Grey

FS36251 Grey

wasn't Revell/Monogram suppost to re-pop their F-117 in the 'Dragon' scheme sometime this year?

Is that kit any good at all?

the usual shape issues i belive,it's tempting too pick up the kit just for the decals and use them on the Tamiya kit

..it wouldn't be the first time i've gotten a bad kit just for a nice decal option

The Tamiya kit is, of course, better, but it also costs a lot more. The RevelloGram kit is no slouch, worth the ~$12-15 cost especially if it is the ProModeler verssion with the weapon bay.

I picked up the re-issued Revellogram F-117 "Dragon" the other day.

Kit doesn't look too bad at a glance - but my big worry is the paint guide. FS3645 Light Gray and FS36375 Light Ghost Gray.

Somehow, I just don't think that's right.

hows the decal sheet?

i was thinking of picking the kit up just for the decals then use them on the Tamiya kit

I haven't gotten that far yet. They look like the typical Revellogram decals. Markings for the Dragon when it flew the gray scheme (OT 85-835) and the same airframe when it flew out of Tonopah (TR 835)

Interestingly, the light gray markings are the same throughout the sheet. That is, the same light gray national insignia you would use on the black finish, you would have to use on the dark Mod Eagle Gray finish. A fifth national emeblem is provided for the underside of the gray machine
