theplasticsurgeon
Finally opening a thread for this promised project: Minicraft 1/144 Beoing 757-200 with Rolls Royce engines and Iron Maiden decals. Assembled the major components last week. And now it looks a bit like a plane.
GCA333
Hello Tim! Very nice project (and rare decals!) What do you plan on doing to fix the wings and engines? Will you use Bra.z's nose and tail replacements? Can't wait to see more!
theplasticsurgeon
Hello Tim!Very nice project (and rare decals!) What do you plan on doing to fix the wings and engines? Will you use Bra.z's nose and tail replacements? Can't wait to see more! No - the plastic will be straight from the box. I've built this 757 previously.
theplasticsurgeon
State of play today. Cockpit installed and sanded in - hoping to spray the fuselage white tomorrow.
oldHooker
Another nice start! You have quite an airliner assembly line going on; can't wait to see them on the ramp! Take care, Frank
theplasticsurgeon
You have quite an airliner assembly line going on; can't wait to see them on the ramp! It's the way I do these sort of things. These 3 projects are basically the same colours, so I plan to paint them all together. Halfords Appliance White is (in my opinion) the best paint for airliners, and a quick aerosol session fits my hectic lifstyle (less preparation required, when an opportunity presents itself). All 3 models have cockpit and porthole decals, so even less prep is required. I regard the aerosol as a one-shot job (two at most, if I'm very careful), so I'll use it on multiple project simultaneously - probably until it is spent. Today looks like that opportunity is here. For next weekend I've got an Aircraft Grey aerosol for the wings. Tim signing off - to go spraying paint.
theplasticsurgeon
Appliance White gloss and the aerosol is spent

rom
Unfortunately, you can't. Managers contacted Ray at TwoSix and asked him to stop producing them. holdings or trademarks troubles? too bad! Your plane will be awesome! i love Maiden!! bye
Samurai_Chris
Well, I am a Metalica, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers man myself. And the way I see it. If Iron Maiden, have a problem with someone producing something they havn't, for the small number of fans firstly. Airline fans secondly. And modeler's thirdly. Then, they can go screw a boot in my opinion.. F@#k em......
theplasticsurgeon
I gather "the band" contacted TwoSix and asked Ray to stop producing these decals. That makes me quite lucky to have them, so obviously I have a responsibility to share the build with my fellow ARCers.
GCA333
It will be nice to see this one built. I am kicking myself for not buying them when I first saw them. Ah well, my mistake. I believe Ed Nirel has a set and is planning on doing this livery too, battle of the 757's! Back to the kit.... Tim, what do you plan on doing to fix the wing/gear? I have heard that they are uneven. theplasticsurgeon
Back to the kit.... Tim, what do you plan on doing to fix the wing/gear? I have heard that they are uneven. I'll have to live with the fault - or plan to display the plane in flight. No progress last weekend - as I was away for an Archery event - but today I've aerosolled the wings: And unmasked
theplasticsurgeon
Decal day - they went on very well. Run to the hills! Checking references for stuff like where the serials go now.

theplasticsurgeon
Undercarriage! Not quite complete yet - but will be like this on the IPMS Gloucester stand at Cosford tomorrow. Oh, and I repainted the engines a bit lighter.
theplasticsurgeon
Declaring completion. Metal foil applied on the engine lips this morning.
