  1. This is my Super Cobra in 1/72. I made it as a fun build in a short period of time. I chose the Cobra because I really like that 3-tone-camo. The model shows a bird from the HMLA-169 "Vipers" from 1987. I tried to correct the exhausts of the Revell-kit with putty. The gatling gun was rebuild using hollow needles. I used colours from RoG and Tamiya. The cockpit was filled with some cables, missing levers and the armor plates. The rotorblades were removed from the rotorhead and attached angular. In total it's a nice kit but if you want to let it shine it needs some serious res
  2. Looks like you don't need kits anymore - as always you update astonished and impressed me.
  3. Great scratchbuilding! I like that build!
  4. When you open the hatches it's like a butterfly spreading it's wings. Just stunning!
  5. Thank you all very much! I'm really glad you like my work! @centuryfan: Thank you! I was asked to show the Merlin in Lübeck although it wasn't finished yet.
  6. Thank you very much - with your tipps you were a big help! Finally it's finished and here's the rollout: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=206707
  7. After more than one year it's finally finished. Here's the roll out of my EH-101 Merlin HM.1 in 1/72. It was a practice-build to try out some new techniques and it was the first time I used pe-parts. It was also the first time I made a base and it was the first time I made some figures to create a little diorama. A fellow modeller said to me figures - they make it or they break it so I was quite afraid to use them. This model shows ZH860 that was given some tiger stripes for an airday in Culdrose in 2002. It kept that look throughout it's mission on the HMS Ark Royal in February 2003. If you
  8. Westland Sea King - I would build all its variants the next years.
  9. Works perfect - thank you very much. I didn't know this feature.
  10. Thank you for the reply but that doesn't work as wanted. When I use "CH53" it will find posts with "CH53" in it but it won't find posts with "CH-53" in it. Sadly most people use "CH-53" instead of "CH53".
  11. Is there a trick to find threads with "CH-53" in it? O.K. - I can use "stallion" but if someone doesn't use the word stallion in his post it won't be in the results list so is there any trick or walkaround that makes the boardsearch find phrases like "CH-53", "EH-101" or "HH-60"?
  12. You're welcome! I have a HH-60H in my stash too and I can't wait to start building it. Thank you Avus - it's my first base ever and I think it won't be the last. Nothing secured yet, since I have to do some little things on the Merlin but I think later I'll just glue it right to the base. Tonight my last update on with in-build-pictures. The next update will show the finished project. I want to take the chance and say thank you to all the visitors and posters of this thread. Right now there were more than 10.000 views on this thread! WOW! So what was left to do? I painted and weat
  13. Hi Shep, the snow give's it so much life - I like that very much! Thank you for you nice comment and the photos! And thank you too! It's a good feeling that the effort was worth it. Today I made the nylon straps from the WEM-set. Here's a picture of those straps used on a British carrier: http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Navy/E...rlin/0977673/L/ I hope tomorrow they'll be painted and then it only needs some final touch ups and it's done.
  14. Thank you very much - very nice compliment. I started and finished the base. Here are the used materials: - a slat for the base - sandpaper (500 Grid) - WEM pe-set "Carrier Tie-Down-Set" - Airwaves pe-set "Royal Navy Helicopter Deck" - hollow punch 2,5 mm - artwork from the Internet First test on the internet-artwork to get the right position. Then the sandpaper was cut in form and sprayed with Revell colours. The lines were masked and sprayed in white. I also tried to mask and spray the big "4". As you can see some colour went under the mask - I already corrected that.
  15. What a beauty! Unbelieveable details and I love them all!
  16. Still 4 rotorblades? I read some rumors that they thought about a new 5-blade-layout.
  17. It was worth every minute it took to make this helo! Great job! :P
  18. Top work! Unbelievable details!
  19. Thank you very much! Naaah - I don't think they are interested. But thank you very much. Perhaps there is a bigger change in the plan. I came across, that the tie-downs on the RN-carriers are totally different to USN-carriers. They don't look like holes with "stars" in it. They have foldable tie-downs. You can see it in this picture: http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Br...rier/1093095/L/ First that was a little throwback but then I found this set from airwaves: http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=AEC72211 Of course I ordered it and now that I will have the grid for the decklo
  20. Here's the last bigger detail that had to be added to my Merlin - the harpoon or decklock. Walkaround pictures from primeportal: http://data3.primeportal.net/hangar/luc_co...48_54_of_59.jpg http://data3.primeportal.net/hangar/luc_co...48_55_of_59.jpg http://data3.primeportal.net/hangar/luc_co...48_56_of_59.jpg Since the kit part wasn't usable to build the decklock, it was made from scratch. That was the last big detail missing on the Merlin. Now the base has to be finished and then it's done.
  21. Try to contact this guy - looks like he had some good reference materials: http://www.scale-rotors.com/gallery/utilit...-asac7-revell-0
  22. Since neither the HobbyBoss- nor the Revell-kit offer the right rocket pods is there any other kit out there, where I can "borrow" them from? The Hellfire-Launcher can be taken from various kits but where can I find those specially formed rocket-pods on the outer weapon stations? http://www.airliners.net/photo/Australia--...-665/1545992/L/ http://www.airliners.net/photo/Australia--...-665/1195250/L/
  23. First I have to say, that I'm an airbrush-noob, too since I started airbrushing last autumn. Like milk - or thinner. A shiny coat can easily look a bit toy-like. Nevertheless some models will need it. I prefer Flat or satin varnish and my actual weapon of choice are the varnishes from xtracrylics. Easy to handle and hard as stone after drying. None - I use syringes. You have a scale to measure the amount of color and thinner and you can even use them to store mixed colour by closing them with a toothpick. Nope. Nope - I use my Harder & Steenbeck Evolution for all jobs. For
