  1. Hi again... For my 1/48 "old 66" I first have to order the old style LG covers/swimmers...since I have the initial Hasegawa SH-3 which is a later version. My heli will most likely be either Apollo 8 or 10. I like the larger 66 better then the smaller one of Apollo 12 and 13. My decal set does not even have 13 on it... The story of the heli is very sad...the Smithonian should have put it's hands on it right after Apollo 11 in my opinion. Now it's resting at the bottom os the sea waiting to be picked up by some super rich guy...but we have seen that before, Liberty Bell 7 came back an
  2. Hello Pete Thanks for the replay...I was all over your threats last night already until 3AM! Great stuff but well bejong my abilities... So basically what you are saying is that the Dragon LEM is a 100% loss? That means I will concentrate on the Monogram version more. I may get an upgrade kit from New Ware for it. have to see if some of the Dragon parts might came in handy...like the foil covered legs or so... cheers Uwe If you want my Revell LEM...yours for the cost of shipping...:-)
  3. Hello Pete Thanks a lot for fixing the pictures! Your LEM builds are excellent and well bejong my ability. Have you ever worked your wonders on a Monogram LEM? thanks Uwe
  4. Wow...just acme across this threat! Your 3D design is top notch. I wonder how much the prices would come done if that all was 1/144? I have an Airfix kit stil downstairs (the newer one) that for sure could use some of those details...if not all of them. thanks Uwe
  5. Hello all Last week I got a 1/48 Sea King heli for cheap and also the "Old 66 " decals from Starfighter. This somehow made me check my dungan to get a quick overview about what I had on space models. I baught a lot of them years ago but not really got into them. I found, to my surprise, that I still have 4x 1/48 LEMs...one Revell, two Monograms I bought in the US in 87 and a more recent Dragon one, the one with the gold decent stage. Looking at that kit in more detail I am a bit dissapointed. It seems like Dragon stopped half way. Also the general shape is a bit different from the
  6. Sorry my fault...just saw this is the 1/72 threat! I am after the new, 2nd edition, 1/48 version... thx Uwe
  7. I almost do not dare to ask...but there is still no sign of presence of the new Kfir here in Europe...neither at Hannants nor MBK nor anwhere else. What's the hold up please? thanks Uwe
  8. Only when you count the number of faults...when you look at the fixability of the faults the situation looks differenty. Now...once Jeffrey has a replacment section available things again might be different. The other issue is still the price though...
  9. Hello all I normally build jets, props and ships...but rarely helis. Why...I really do not know. The last heli I had was a Revell CH-53 that got to about 60% finish before I lost the interest. That was almost 30 years ago. So...yesterday I fell over an E-Bay offer from Poland for a Hasegawa SH-3 Sea King in the first US Navy boxing...for 27EUR! Since I have a long duration project to built the Nimitz Air Wing of 1977/78 I bought it. Now...after surfing the web a bit I did not find too much stuff around Sea Kings. Hence every hint and link to what to watch for, which AM to get,
  10. XMM intakes for the Academy bird are spot on! Here is where I am right now...ZM and Academy
  11. Since you mentioned RoG before...this is one of my main complaints about for example ZM that I have...they are bloody expensive! Revell as you said is outsourcing almost everthing and the end results are hits and misses...but the pricing is top! For example their 48 Strike Eagle...best kit around, out of the box just beautiful (if you like Air Force ;-) ) and the rate is around 30EUR or less. Their latest 1/32 109, 190 and now Mustang are the also regarded as top...some even competing with Tamiya kits that are 100EUR more. If a 30EUR kit has a fault, even more a fixable fault, that's still
  12. ...I am looking fwd to seeing the outcome of this! Looks very prommising already. Do you have a picture of your template held against the fuselage before you started sanding? Should open even the closest eyes...;-)
  13. ...right...that's of course true. Maybe we should primarily give our money to companies who go through the expense of creating their own infrastructure rather then just delivering 3D drawings, let others do the work and then just put their name on the front. All in all the ZM Phantom is a very nice kit...but with that still not corrected issue just too bloddy expensive. I have one...but I won't buy another one unless they get their act togther... cheers Uwe
  14. That's it Laurent...you would need to remove plastik and re-sculpture the S-line profile...and that of cource symetrically left and right. I am sure someone can do that...me, deffinitely not! What bugs me the most is that ZM just sits there quitely acting like nothing has happened...pumping out new kits with new sprues (the -S has an all new wing) and leavong the faulty part in the kit! A prime example of what should be done is AMK. Their first 48 scale KFIR has a wrong fuselage profile as well. It is missing the typical Mirage "coke bottle" profile. AMK acknowledged that and now has a new kit
  15. There was an in-deepth review on Hyperscale a while back, will try to find it...best rear fuselage is actually on the Monogram kit! BUT ZM is the only one that reversers the profile of the panels in this area which makes them last in line! I know you do not believe it...but I really do not care! PS: Found it... http://www.network54.com/Forum/149674/thread/1483831281/1/Zoukei-Mura's+F-4J+rear+fuselage+controversy...
  16. It's actually easier to detect those things by holding a model and studying pictures. I am currently knee deep in the Island of USS Hancock after June45 until her mothballing...it's amazing how many details were overlooked there. Not one kit out there that is even close...
  17. I would also be interesetd in seeing the issue fixed...one way or the other. Looking fwd to seeing your approach... cheers Uwe
  18. Would be interested in hearing about the shape issues on the Academy birds. I know of the following: -AC scopes -elevators -skinny nose -angle of nose to ground -bulges on the wings of the Navy birds Intakes do not count in my book since the Hase ones are just as bad...I used XMM ones and am very happy. The next question then is...what is easily fixable and what not? thanks Uwe
  19. Yes, thats true...but the faults on the other kits are in locations where they can be fixed...like the AC scopes on the Academy bird and even the slightly skinny nose...not to mention the wrong elevators that are a piece of cake to fix or just to replace. The fuselage issue on ZM is very, very hard to fix. it would require a whole set of panels to be exchanged in the middle of the fuselage. By puttying such a section in, if it existed, you would loose all details in the sanding process. It's like trying to cut the wheel buldges out of the wings to get a -B wing...doable but really not worth th
  20. Not so quick...let them show the Tomcat first! And then of course let's see how long it takes to make it available globally. The new 1/48 Kfir has still not arrived in Germany...only one dealer shows it as a preview with delivery potentially mid Feb. :-( thx Uwe
  21. The Tamiya kit contains parts for the AIM-54C as well! You just need different decals... cheers Uwe
  22. I use them both already...great paints! It's just that in the pictures the gull gray appears even lighter...but it may be fading or the film itself.
  23. Hello all Quick question on the Skyray pics...the 16440 seems to be very light in those pics. Is this de to bleaching or was the paint in the 50ties/60ties different...or is it just the pics? The almost white apperance looks very cool! cheers Uwe
  24. Thanks a lot Chriss I will go for the first cruise for now...since I like the VF-74 decals with teh big red USS INTERPID very much! Started looking around for a FM F-11 Tiger but those seem to be rare. The Crusader I have will be used later for a VF-162 bird... cheers Uwe PS: A little side notice...I had to push the button on this one!!! https://ms-plueth.de/detail/index/sArticle/25322
  25. Done for now...until I get to see her in daylight! ;-) cheers Uwe
