  1. I recently moved to a new house and for the first time I have all my stash stored in an non air conditioned space. Summer temps are probably high 80s/low 90s in the space I have them in. What is the opinion on that being an issue for plastic/paint/decals? Thanks in advance for any answers. I did a search but didn't see anything.
  2. I like the breakdown by era. To me an E-2 Hawkeye belongs with modern Navy jets, not P-51s. Not that my opinion is going to (or should) change things here.
  3. While I don't agree with a fat tax at the grocery store, I definitely agree with a "lifestyle" tax on health care. Don't know why I have to pay for/subsidize the poor health choices of others.
  4. The Captain has 55,000 flight hours? I think someone added an extra zero...
  5. If you do that, you have an undermanned unit whose other members now have to pull the weight of the transferred Marine. You fight with what you have, replacements are weeks or months away. Besides, it sets a horrible example "Don't like it here? Just be derelict in your duty and we'll send you home!"
  6. Conspiracy theories all rely on two things - a competent government and absolute silence from all those involved until they are dead. That is why I don't believe in any of them.
  7. Don't count out the false canopy so quickly. It's not designed to be invisible, but to give a split-second of indecision as the opposing pilot tries to figure out which way the aircraft is turning.
  8. Could have easily gone down the other way, aka Mogadishu, with bodies of pilots being dragged through the steets. And we don't "pay soldiers to protect innocent civilians at the risk of their lives". We teach fire dicipline, but not suicide. In the end you always retain the right of self-defence. The enemy these days rarely has the courtesy to wear a uniform and the front lines are never defined.
  9. Splash one MiG! I'd hate to be that pilot punching out over rebel positions. Doubt they are in a very good mood.
  10. I have been interested in switching to Vorizon until I read there are issues with Verizon's network in that you can't do data and voice at the same time - so no checking email, looking up an address, etc while talking on the phone like you can on AT & T. The i ph one also only works on Verizon's old 3g network and not on it's newest and fastest one. Apparently that all may change this summer with the i5 phone coming out. For mw, I'm staying with AT & T for now and seeing what happens this summer (so I'm not locked into a 2 year contract with Verizon).
  11. East Coast Squadrons starting with VMA-542 began receiving II+ in 1993. West Coast squadrons starting with VMA-214 began in 1999. Since the 31st MEU was during that time supported exclusively by west coast squadrons, the II+ didn't deploy to Japan until sometime after 2000.
  12. Just wondering the official army policy as I hadn't seen anyone in uniform drink like that before. My tolerance for them was much higher than it would have been for two guys in business suits using the same volume and language.
  13. Just curious and know there are quite a few Army guys on the forum here. What are the rules for drinking in uniform? I was on a flight yesterday with 2 Army guys in their ACUs (not sure if that is the proper term) that proceeded to power through 4 Jack & Cokes each and get louder and louder with each one. In my opinion, they were not representing the Army very well to the public. Does the Army have an official position on that?
  14. There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?
