  1. Hey all, I traded for these two kits from other ARCers a while back but recently decided to pass them along, as I have realized I don't have the time/expertise to do them justice in the near future: Hasegawa 1/48 A-7E Corsair II - "Valions" boxing Box/bag is open, everything is in great shape comes with: Eagle Strike Decals - Colorful Corsairs Part I -VA-15 Valions, MCAS Yuma, January '77, BuNo 159655 -VA-87 Golden Warriors, January '77, BuNo 159968 -VA-37 Bulls, Nellis AFB, August '73, BuNo 158326 -VA-82 Marauders decals
  2. Hey guys, I've been working on my 1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18E 'Low Visibility' now that I'm home for a bit, squeezing in time after work at night. I'm trying to finish it up by the first week of July/last week of June (zoinks!) before I head out to OCS down in Quantico. I used a resin bang seat, but other than that, it's all OOB (aside from ordnance, not sure what I'm doing there yet). This is my first major attempt at a Hase kit, and it's been coming together quite well actually (a pleasant surprise). I plan to use the kit decals for the low viz Tophatter jet. More pictures to follow, I'll be
  3. That's a beauty for sure, Ken! Great work, I had no idea the Gladiators sport "Navy" on one side and "Marines" on the other. Cool stuff.
  4. I'll second the comment about the Fujimi Intruder...it's a real dog of a kit. I threw mine out because I just couldn't take it anymore!
  5. Check out Baseline Models in West Babylon, NY. I'm a Long Islander and although it's a bit of a hike, it's definitely worth it. Willis Hobbies in Mineola has pretty big store, but the prices are terribly competitive whereas as Baseline is the place to find older, rarer kits, as well as generally better prices. Willis is an all-hobby shop and Baseline is just military models...
  6. I saw hobbybuy.com has half off on a 1/48 Hase Phantom ("5000th Phantom" model), but it's an F-4E. How hard would it be to convert an E to a J or S? Thanks!
  7. How'd it go closing up the gear bays on the Revell? I closed them on a C Hornet last year...what a nightmare!
  8. I'm trying to figure out whether or not I really need this, depending on what kind of sweet markings I can scrounge up....anybody built this bad boy? Opinions?
  9. Awesome show today, I'm sorry it was so crappy yesterday... Blues did the high show, saw Team Chaos in action, Strike Eagle demo was ********, Major John Klatt is nutso (in a good way!). Got a sunburned face but it was SO worth it!!
  10. Yeah they mentioned that FOD on the Strike Eagle on Friday night during the introductions, forgot to mention that before. Happened during the Friday afternoon Strike Eagle demo for the military dependents, apparently they had to cut their demo short because of it (not surprising!).
  11. Rick, Sorry to hear about the disappointing show today. I went last night to the "Afterburner Blast" party with the Golden Knight jump-in and the jet truck did a small test run in the dark which looked pretty sweet in the pitch black with tongues of flame coming out the back. Hopefully tomorrow will be better...
  12. Saw the first jet come flying in today, I think it was the Strike Eagle but I could be wrong as I was watching through trees into the sun...shame on me for not being able to tell anyway! I only saw a single one but my roommate says he heard a "really loud noise" while I was in the gym, so I'm assuming that means the Blues are here too...not sure by any means on that one though.
  13. Bob Moore: Awesome work on that pilot! Looks amazing.
  14. click the link that says "Blue and Gold Afterburner Blast" http://www.greaterstateofmaineairshow.com/ I'm not sure where it is, I thought I read Thomas Point Beach but now I'm seeing it's at BNAS...who knows.
  15. Saw a couple of P-3 Orions coming into the landing pattern at NAS Brunswick...gettin' pumped for the Great State of Maine Air Show in 2 weeks!
  16. I'll definitely be there for two days at least, probably Saturday Sept. 15th and hopefully for the Thomas Point Beach party on Friday night, the 14th. So excited to see the Blues! I heard they practice for a few days before the show too so with any luck, I'll get some extra sightings in between my classes on the quad!
  17. Tentatively going gear up on this one...always hated building/painting landing gear anyway! I'll post pics on the in-progress thread this weekend for sure. Thanks for your help!
  18. So I'm making very slow progress on my Academy Bombcat, but I had some serious construction/fit problems with the insertion of the cockpit into the top half of the fuselage. Anyone else had this problem? How did you deal with it? In addition, I'm a bit unclear as to where to attach the wheel well on the bottom of the cockpit. Do I attach to the front of the well is flush with the front of the cockpit (and thus, the insertion point for the strut is up against the back edge of the well), or with at the back of that tiny "notch" under the cockpit (sounds ridiculous, but if you've built this k
  19. Hey all, Well after a lot of haunting the forums for the past 6-8 months while I was at school, unable to really build, and then just finishing a "warm-up" build of a Monogram Corsair, I've decided to take a crack at the Academy 1/48 F-14A Bombcat. Although I'll be going for reasonable historical accuracy, my real aim on this one is just to hone my skills and try out some new techniques and hopefully come up with a solid build. I'm building it pretty much OOB, with the exception of aftermarket decals to make a VF-41 bird. I liked the kit decals (VF-154 Black Knights), but I went with th
