Voted for the 707 since I didn't see a Douglas Stretch 8. Pan Am livery looked very nice on the old 707.

Don

The Heller 707-320 still appears from time to time, while, although multi-media (precut vacform airframe) we produce both long and short DC-8s.

Out of all the airliners ever made, past and present, NONE have beat the sleek and sexy look of the 707-320. My favorite liveries on the 70 are the old TWA twin globes followed very closely by the American Airlines with the lighting bolt and bare metal finish. In addition, Air Force One never looked better!

I voted for the Caravelle (in my mind, in United Airlines colours), though it was a tough debate between that and the Comet.

But if I could pick something not on the list, then hands down: Tu-134!

For sheer beauty, it's hard to beat the lines of a B-727.

Agreed for jetliners.

Favorite liveries on favorite jetliners.

727 in TWA with globes.

DC9 in Delta with blue triangle on vertical stab.

(not at all influenced by having ridden in them in younger days, right?)

Rode in Braniff something or other as kid, forget what.

And somewhere along the way there were a couple prop jobs - one puddle jumper and a number of years previous in something pretty big. Again, forget what.

If question was about favorite airliner period and not limited to those polled, what to name is a difficult choice.

Would have to name propliner & jetliner.

Jetliner, easy, 727.

Propliner . . . hmm . . . Connie, DC-7, Fokker F.27, (although being turboprop it doesn't strictly count as a propliner) those are front runners.

Right behind are Martin 4-4-0, Convair 440, SAAB 90 Scandia.

Constellation is appealing because of its dolphin shape.

DC-7 has a good solid everyday workman feel to it.

(here we go again, 4-4-0 steam loco wheel arrangement instead of 4-0-4)

Ooh, as I haven't ever made an airliner model, I thought I'd chip in as I've just been thinking about doing one.

Jet;

727 in Alitalia livery

VC-10 in BOAC livery

Prop;

Vickers Vanguard in "Air Bridge" livery

Short 360 in old British Midland livery

DeHavilland Heron in old Jersey Airlines livery

DeHavilland 86 Express

Bristol Britannia

See, there is a theme here, inspired by memories of days spent on the observation mound at East Midlands (anyone remember the old car park area?) so a lot of brit stuff.

Is Short 360 a longer Skyvan? http://jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5709439

(a longer Short, what a concept!)

Just fer grinz, I'd substitute Sky Way http://www.airliners.net/photo/SkyWay-Enterprises/Short-360/1839451/L with Amtrak because it sure looks like http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=99196

DeHavilland Heron in old Jersey Airlines livery

Googling to refresh memory on what it looked like, found one, but don't know enough to know if is "old livery" or not http://www.flugzeuginfo.net/acimages/dh114_pedley.jpg

Pretty much, that started with the 330 if I remember rightly;

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Niger-Express-%28Okada/Short-330-100/1889767/&sid=f360de9d965f656741f5443c9c46d195

and then into the 360, so yes, a "long short" as it were :thumbsup:

Not sure if anyone made one in 72nd, I believe Welsh Models did a 1:144 one

No love for the Mad Dog?? MD-80 series are the workhorses. But I'll bite on the 737. My other nerd hobby includes flight simulation, and I've spent thousands of dollars on a home cockpit as well that is fun as hell.

...I am curious, what does a home cockpit look like for your simulation flights? <_<

I prefer the Vickers Viscount 807...

Okay, so the Viscounts that NAC operated didn't get painted in the 'wings of the nation' scheme, but still, the Viscount was quite a classy lady...

And of course, Viscount ZK-SKY, which was only in NZ briefly before the Mouldoon Government slapped Aqua Avia down hard. That government really didn't help the Aviation industry too much. First the forced merger of NAC to ANZ, and then Skybus getting knocked out of operation...
