Pete
Me and cpoud117 have decided to invite -Neu- as our third mod. He is just as enthousiastic about this subject as we are, and knows a bit more about the ground warfare stuff than we do, so we believe he would make a fine addition to the team. And today's pic: An MH-53E of HC-4 hovers above Aviano Airbase in Northern Italy, during a joint helicopter deployment training in 2004. HC-4 "Black Stallions" was based at NAS Sigonella on Sicily from 1983 untill 2005. Using the CH-53E first, and later the MH-53E, they performed numerous missions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Everything from supporting the Sixth Fleet, evacutions in times of crisis like in Somalia and Sierra Leone, to combat support missions and VIP transport. HC-4 was relocated to Naval Station Norfolk in 2005-2006, and disestablished on 28 September 2007.
ALF18
We have our Bitburg Eagle sheets going to the printers very soon so there's another avenue in regards to a modeling subject for you guys! Need someone to sponsor prizes? I'm in! Are you doing those in 1/32? I have a Tamiya F-15C that would look mighty fine in my favourite Eagle markings... ALF
Pete
Bob said they will be done in all three major scales.
Scott R Wilson
Here's a few of the many photos I took during my tour at Ramstein 1983-86, hope you find them useful. I took this first photo of 69-0280 on May 18, 1984 at Zaragoza AB, Spain. This Weasel crashed a few days later, on May 23 on the Bardenas Real bombing range. The crew got out okay. Stabilators on the F-16 are interchangeable from side to side. Note the left stab is upside down so far as the color scheme: Edited August 31, 2011 by Scott R Wilson
Scott R Wilson
A few more of my photos: "Candyass", aka "Peppermnint Patty"

Scott R Wilson
This SR-71 61-7974 came to Ramstein for the retirement ceremony of a former SR crewman. Not the clearest photo, but the only one I took of a Zulu F-4E with AIM-7F Sparrows. Note the Sparrow is gray. Edited August 31, 2011 by Scott R Wilson

cpoud117
Wow! That's a great set of pictures Scott. Thanks a lot! Oh god that F-16B is sweet :)
Koen L
Excellent pics Scott!
-Neu-
That is SWEEET Scott! A wicked assortment of aircraft... most of the major types from this period. Thank you. Seeing them (particularly with the bunkers) is inspiring me to do an F-16 with a B-61 underslung.
Scott R Wilson
Not really USAFE, but I did shoot this C-130D-6 at Zaragoza AB, Spain: Two C-130Es from the 435th at Rhein-Main. I took these at the Sembacher Flugtag in July 1981 during a visit to Germany before i was stationed there: Crested Cap F-4E at Ramstein:

Scott R Wilson
This F-4G had 34092 dark green in place of the usual 34079, which is pretty darned rare: Here's the F-111F that was lost on the 1986 Libyan raid (70-2389), I took this photo at Ramstein on September 18, 1985: Edited August 31, 2011 by Scott R Wilson
Scott R Wilson
This F-15 had a midair with a German owned Beech Baron. The F-15 was on Zulu Alert, and was scrambled to intercept the Baron when the Beech got too close to the East German border. The weather was instrument conditions, and when the F-15 tried to get close enough to the Baron to get a positive ID and to warn the Baron pilot to turn around, the F-15 accidentally hit the Baron. Both aircraft made successful landings and amazingly no one was hurt. The F-15 recovered at Ramstein and sat in our maintenance hangar for almost a year before the depot was able to send a team to repair it. I took this photo after the jet was pulled out of the 526 TFS hangar and was about to be moved to the phase inspection hangar where they did the repairs. Another technically non USAFE jet at Ramstein. Note the Egyptian C-130 in the background.
Scott R Wilson
Okay, I'm done hijacking the thread now, carry on. ;)
-Neu-
I think I can safely speak for the rest of the people here (except that one person who seems only to like Desert Storm), that you need to post MORE photos, not less.
Pete
Great stuff, Scott! I was hoping you would post a pic or two, but this is incredible. It this doesn't inspire a few people, I don't know what will. Thanks!

Scott R Wilson
No you're not, more please! :D I'm glad you guys are enjoying my photos. I had a lot of fun with my camera back in the day. I haven't scanned many 81 TFW A-10s or any 20 TFW F-111Es, EF-111As or 527th TFTAS F-5Es. I'll have to try to do that some time. Funny thing, one of my supervisors at Ramstein could never understand why I'd want to photograph all those airplanes. In his mind we were around them all day, so what was the point. Now that he's long retired I wonder if he can see my point of view better. Okay, since you don't seem to be bored with my efforts, here's a few more:
