KursadA
CD48063 will feature new marking options for the new, excellent Stearman Model 75 (Kaydet) kit from Revell. US (both Navy and AAC) and RCAF markings are almost done, working on a few more as I collect reference material. Should be done soon. KursadA
This is the final layout of the Kaydet sheet. There have been some delays in printing, but it now looks like it will be part of my September batch of releases. It provides operational markings for USAAC/USN Kaydets along with correctly sized national insignia, both of which are missing from the Revell kit sheet. It also includes markings for a Canadian PT-27 and Nationalist Chinese delivery markings. It was a nice break from designing modern aircraft decals, perhaps I could look into expanding my range into WWII subjects in the future. Joe Hegedus
How 'bout some profiles to see what the schemes look like? Please?
KursadA
The profiles will have to wait until I come back from vacation in early August - sorry. In my design methodology, preparing the profiles is usually the final step. There are options for one early blue US Army Air Corps PT-17, one N2S-3, one N2S-2 (this one), one Canadian PT-27 and one Nationalist Chinese PT-17 in what I understand to be delivery markings. KursadA
The Kaydet sheets are here. I will enable preorders within the next few days, and will start shipping next week. Depending on how these are received, I plan to do more WWII era aircraft in the future.

dmk0210
Cool! I was checking every day, anxiously waiting for this one to be available. B) I always loved the photo of that colorful Corpus Christi Navy bird. Edited October 1, 2014 by dmk0210

Vince Maddux
The kit has wooden and metal props, I'm wanting to build the first option on the sheet. Which prop do I need to use??
Joe Hegedus
Vince, the Revell kit is an N2S-3 OOB; the first option above is an N2S-2 which can't be built OOB from the Revell kit. You need an R-680 9-cylinder engine with the front-mounted exhaust collector rather than the R-670, 7-cylinder engine with rear exhaust collector that is in the kit. But N2S-2 BuNo 3553 had the wooden prop in the well-known photo of it having the inertia starter cranked up for engine start, in answer to your query.
dnl42
This one, right? I just ordered an Engines & Things Lycoming R-680 from Roll Models. I'll finally get to see one of those things first-hand...

"Engines and Things" does a Lycoming R-680 (48176) but I'm not positive that it is a version with front exhaust collector. Vince Maddux
Thanks Joe, I found a R-680 in the Engine and Things Catalog. I'll order one next month and use the kit engine as a place sitter.
dnl42
I'll post pictures of that E&T R-680 as soon as it arrives.

Joe Hegedus
I wish i could find some pilots for mine too Maybe you could modify the pilot from the Monogram P-47 kit? It's a pretty nice figure but I don't recall if it has an oxygen mask that would have to be removed.
Vince Maddux
What I would love to do if I could find the right figures is to have a guy flying the plane in the back and the guy in front covering his eyes. I could do it inflight and pose the plane flying inverted!
dnl42
Instead of covering his eyes, perhaps he should be covering his mouth, trying to keep it all in
Joe Hegedus
They guy in front was the instructor - I can understand why he'd want to cover his eyes!
