Joerg
I´d say it´s the Goodrich DB-110 recce pod the RSAF acquired for their F-15S fleet. Cheers, Joerg
rustywelder
Looking again, I think Joerg is right. I've never seen that pod before.
TomCooper
It is a DB-110. RSAF is heavily dependent on collecting real-time recce/intel with help of UAVs, closer to its borders, and on F-15S' equipped with DB-110s when operating deeper over Yemen. It's particularly over the port of Aden - where Saudis are attempting to stop the advance by Houthis and Yemen Army units that sided them - that MudHens equipped with DB-110s act as FAC. I.e. they are searching for targets and then coordinate attacks on them - and do so while all the time connected to their home-base and HQ in Riyad via Link 16. zark
That's a new one for me...thanks for the info guys!!!
Dmanton300
Yeah my second thought was a recce pod, so thanks for clarifying.
vesthepes
Thanks for the video. For me the most impressive is the Sudanese Su-24M...can't see that very often.
TomCooper
...and they are 'brand new' too. Well: kind of. Belarussians were retiring their entire fleet, so Sudanese grabbed themselves a few, barely two years ago. And yes, the DB-110 is an amazing piece of machinery. It turns any aircraft carrying it into a 'modern day recce and FAC in one'. It enables real-time donwload of imagery straight back to the HQ (that's why it's got two big antennas, one on the front and the other at the rear). Installation on F-15s appears a little bit like 'improvisation' - but it works, so who cares.
