Matt Walker
I'm wanting to build a 1/48 P-40N in RAAF markings. My preferred kit would be the Hasegawa, but it seems as though they are OOP, and I can't find one anywhere. Anyone have any leads on one?? Cheers, Matthew
DonSS3
I don't know where to find one (other than, maybe, eBay), but IMO the AMT P-40N is well worth considering.
Hal Marshman Sr
Please note that there is a frame, running fore and aft, in the center top of both the sliding canopy, and the fixed rear. It doesn't show on the AMT kit, and many others.

dnl42
I've got the Italieri P-40M/N, #2658, with markings for RAAF, RNZAF, NEI, RAF, USAAF, and FAB. PM me if interested.
PFlint
I think the Mauve/Eduard P-40N is a much better kit. is that Italeri kit from AMT or Mauve ?
Hal Marshman Sr
Couple of things to look for on P-40 kits... Landing gear'''Amt kit has a diagonal brace that runs from the rear of the leg, to a point up in the well. Such would actually impede the folding of the gear. In actuality, what's there is are 2 actuators, fitted on either side of the leg, and hinged in the center. These are flat, not round. blast tubes should not be mounted on center line of wing front, but just below it. See my remark above for the canopy problem. These problems are fairly easily remedied. Sowar
The rear deck under the rear vision was painted OD 613 as the anti glare on top cowling. Edited July 11, 2016 by Sowar
Johnny_K
Nice looking model. It is not often that one sees a P-40 in natural metal.
slayermk1
You could consider Hobby Boss and upgrade it.
DonSS3
Nice looking model. It is not often that one sees a P-40 in natural metal. Thank you, Johnny K. These markings are from an old Aeromaster sheet, like you I hadn't seen a natural metal P-40N before, so it intrigued me. The markings are for an aircraft attached to the Sacramento Air Depot in (IIRC) 1945.
