Bill Staudt
My busy summer is starting to slow down so it’s time to start contributing to this group build. I’ve really enjoyed watching everyone’s work here. My initial plan of doing a Monogram A-7A changed when I found the new Speed Hunter decal sheet of Wright Patt F-4’s and F-16’s. I grew up in south west OH, and spent many summers watching the 906 birds at the Dayton Air Fair. The Monogram 1/48 F-16 was a perfect fit for their Block 10 F-16’s and this group build. I last built this kit as a kid in the early 80’s. Right around the time the Thunderbirds transitioned to the F-16. I tried to do a Thunderbird’s scheme, but it was pretty bad. I’ll try to redeem myself with this build. My plan is to do an OOB build with aftermarket decals. I may shave off a bit of box plastic if need be. Thanks for watching!! phantom
Great, welcome aboard.
Bill Staudt
Trying to tame the intake. I shaved off the injector pin marks, and the front location pins. Then everything got sprayed flat white, and the front landing gear box was installed. Finally, a little white vinyl spackling was used to smooth out the insides. Bill Staudt
Thanks! Monogram had some really nice molded pilots.
Kurt H.
Good start. I have never seen that box before, and I thought I have seen all the 80s monogram boxes. It is as though it is a transition from the whitebox era of the 70s to the painting era of the 80s.
airmechaja
That pilot is much nicer than even the Tamiya rendering! Good job.
CaptainObvious
I agree. Nice job on that pilot! -co
Bill Staudt
Making some slow but steady progress. Only a few trenches to fill on the underside. Edited November 7, 2018 by Bill Staudt
airmechaja
I've never built a Revellogram Viper. Many Hasegawa, Kinetic and Tamiya. it appears it goes together pretty smoothly or you make it seem so.

CorsairMan
Wow! I built this exact boxing as a kid back in the 80s. I got it for Christmas one year and I remember it being one of my better builds. Well done with it!!

Bill Staudt
I took a small break for Thanksgiving, and a few household projects. Back at it last night with a light wash on the landing gear and control surfaces. I'm planning to keep it pretty clean. Edited December 12, 2018 by Bill Staudt
Bill Staudt
Decals are on. The Speed Hunter Graphics sheet was a joy to work with, excellent aftermarket decals! I should be able to finish this one up over the weekend. Edited December 20, 2018 by Bill Staudt
