What a piece of junk! The kit that is...

Recommended Posts

a Monogram 1/48 EA-6B Prowler with a Black Box pit and Cutting Edge resin conversion set. This build was a ton of work from the beginning. It has problems from the nose to tail. Canopies and windscreen don't fit at all, the fuslage took major mods, alot of cutting and sanding to fit the cockpit tub, the decals even had mistakes that had to be corrected. But, this is one of the builds that I'm most prowd of because it went from coal to a diamond. I received a few questions and request for pictures of the completed build from fellow ARCer's. Much easier to post them here than send a dozen e-mails, you guys know who you are take all the ones you like. Hope this is what you were looking for. TIA. If you have any more questions, fire away!

Randy

ummm.. just an observation but this is the inprogress forum and your model looks finish maybe for the interaction your looking for try posting in the Critique Corner. BTW nice build.

I posted the pics by request and the last thing I want to do is read about how I could have done it better or whats wrong with it. After all the research I know it's flaws. A great filmmaker once said "you never complete a project, you just abandon it." - George Lucas.

I closely watched your build, and I have to say, Randy, you did a helluva job with what you had!

I would like to see how the -15 is going. Haven't seen your pics for a while, or was I dosing off again??

Nothing wrong with this build. You could have posted it in the Critique Forum and given those "Rivet Counters" a run for their money. I'd back you up.

Hey Randy- your kits are as good as gold here, pal. Certainly as good as anyone here. I'd post those puppies on the finished thread and hold your head high! If it weren't so early I'd raise a beer o that Prowler. An amazing job all around. Especially since it's a mother of a kit.

As one of those who requested pics, all I have to say is thanks and a job VERY well done Randy. The weathered finish is a welcome break from pre-/post-shaded panel lines (not that there's anything wrong with that!)

BTW Randy,

I seem to detect a slight tint to the canopy. From pics I've seen it appears the kit's optional tinted canopy is overdone (though I can't say yet 'cuz I might have been %#%# on my eBay purchase. But I digress). Did you tint the clear canopy, and if so how?

Mr. M. Jedi: You did fantastic work on this kit... thanks for the in-depth "in-progress" step by step on your Prowler build... very informative. Your end product looks great.

Cheers

O Great One,

That is one more great Prowler. I've got the same kit and aftermarket, and have been looking at it for 2 years. Glad to see one finished. Question-did you build the tailpipes oob. I did on my Intruder and they are a little funky. Yours look great. That paint job is really super. I can't get enough of those USMC jets. I guess I'll have to finally take the plunge and crank it up. Congrats again.

Chuck
