Dondy
Hi As I will start this project this afternoon I do have some questions about this bird. 1. Which propeller to choose for this bird? The Hamilton or the Aero-products? 2. Which canopy, the "Dallas" one or the standard? 3. When parked on the ground, radiator rear shutter open or closed? 4. Which exhaust to choose? Sadly the instructions don't give any hints  Hopefully someone here can answer me these questions. Thanks! :)
brahio
According to a photo of the plane from the Squadron's Air War over Korea: 1. Hamilton, cuffed 2. standard (as far as I see) 3. open 4. shrouded one Yury

Dondy
So, here the first update Nothing fancy yet. Just sprayed the cockpit black and also the instrument panel.
Dondy
For the instrument panel I try to punch out the Tamiya decals for better placement. Hope this works
Dondy
Decals applied. Saddly I'm missing one
David Walker
Nice job with the panel. I expect if you used a white pencil to simply add some markings to that last instrument area no one would notice. It will be hard to see down in the cockpit also. Liberator24
Don, What did you use for the punch. I wanted to do that with the CH-46 and found out scissors didn't work like I thought. Cussing at the kit didn't work either.....hmmmm.

Cussing at the kit didn't work either.....hmmmm. Jim go down to the wal-mart (be sure to wear your sunday best) and slip back to the craft department and you can find a cheapie punch set. they come with three sizes in the set but only one will work for dials. ;)
Dondy
Don, What did you use for the punch. I use some "hollow punch". Hope this word exists In Germany they are colled "Locheisen". I have some in different diameter from 1mm to 10mm. Works quiet well Edited September 15, 2006 by Dondy
Dondy
Instrument panel is done :D It's darker in real ... weird lighting here :D I also did some more work on the sidewalls... Now I'm trying to copy the "wooden look" like TF51GREGWISE ;)

Dondy
Ok, finally have the time to do some more work here I filled and sanded some small gaps smooth and this afternoon I will glue the wings on the fuselage. And than, its' time for foiling Just one small question: Should I paint all the yellow markings and the anti-glare panel first or is it no problem masking on the foil? Edited November 28, 2006 by Dondy
Dr Fester
I masked over the foil......... cos I'm lazy As long as you use Tamiya tape for masking you shouldn't have any problems. Also might be worth putting down a layer of white primer first under the yellow for a more solid colour. Doc
Dondy
I masked over the foil......... cos I'm lazy You say you're lazy but than foil the whole plane? :D Now it's time to head home and start glueing and foiling ;)
Dr Fester
You say you're lazy but than foil the whole plane? OK lazy and stupid would be more accurate...... Happy foiling. Doc
Dondy
Ok here ist my first try... It's easier than I thought. I use plain white glue mixed with water. Problem till now is, the foil adheres not enough. Maybe I try not to thin it with water ... to be continued
Pruz
Not bad for a first effort! Almost makes me want to try it... (almost!) You are brave men. Al Edited December 1, 2006 by Pruz
