First off, I really wanted to get good coverage of everything, inside & out. As you will see, there were just too many people around. The V-22 was pretty much a local product here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, as the first few ships were built & developed here. I've got a friend who worked for Bell building the transmissions for it & worked his way up from that. The aircraft has been in the news here for at least 10 years, & is a well known figure to aviation enthusiasts & the casual observer alike. It was a pretty big draw at the airshow where I took these pics, & there was quite the line to look inside of it, too long for me to bother.

This is inside the engine exhaust. From what a Marine MV-22 crewman told me when I saw one of these at Ft. Bliss this summer, the engine is a derivative of the current C-130J engine.

Tank, I remember asking my V-22 bud what those were also, & they are balance weights.

Bam, it was a pretty typical Alliance show, but the static display aircraft count seemed to be lower than last year. From what a fellow modeling/airshow bud of mine mentioned, The Shepard AFB was also going on that same weekend. The temperature was great, but man was it windy. I had to hide behind one of those inflatable houses so my daughter could eat her funnel cake without it getting blown of the plate.

Thanks for the Kudos, Snake. Check out the digital camo AH-1W I'm going to post here in a minute.

Ok does anyone know what the sensor fit installed in the nose is? I figure the undernose pod is the FLIR, while the thimble radome is some sort of radar, but what's the faring on the left side (that thing the kiddo is obstructing)?

Ves

Hey Ves,

Those are the AAR-54 missile warning receivers. Here are a couple of good shots for you.

i heard on a program on I think it was the Discovery channel focus on the V-22 program that they want to make a gunship version on the V-22. So i guess they would call it then the GV-22?

I had the chance to go inside one at Scott AFB 2 years ago.

It was much smaller than I imagined it would be.

You are not kidding their. The CV and MV-22 both have the same size cargo bay as a CH-46 but they do not have the head room of a Phrog, especially for a guy like me over 6' 2 1/2" tall.

This will give you an idea of what I am talking about. SSgt. Tore (the one closest to the camera) is 5'10" and you can see how close his head is to the ceiling. He is actually leaning into the cockpit some to, this was talking during preflight.

This is a shot of the gear box section, the lowest section in the cargo bay.

That is a very well weathered Osprey! Hope someone releases a decent 1/48 C/MV-22 sometime in the future. Thanks for posting that link.
